guys I just caught a my bike thief, after 7 months of grief finally I caught him. The problem is.... he's still a minor. Every day I thought nothing but beating the @#$% out of him if I ever caught him... when I did finally caught him I couldn't even slap the kid... so I turned him over to the barangay tagays...they told me he's still a minor and can never be put to jail.. so they advised me to come back the next morning cz they will turn him over to the DSWD... so the next morning I came back.. and to my dismay those stupid Barangay tagays and the worthless barangay kagawads told me that my 16 yr old bike thief just escape! which I thought was impossible because he was hand cuffed to the jail bars because the room's ceiling has a big hole.. ( a typical scenario on provincial brgy hall) Is there a law against minor offenders other than turning them over to the DSWD? I heard this thief has been in and out of DSWD and he can put up hes own little CARTIMAR if put together all the bikes he's stollen..

there's a new law for the protection of juvenile offender, the dswd will first determine if the juvenile offender can be or shall be prosecuted. they assess the circumstances about the minor and if they found out that he is a habitual offender, then you can file a case against the minor. i will try to research that special law. about the barangay tanod, you can either file a case of obstruction of justice or infedelity to the custody of the prisoner.

one of his associates turned against him... he confessed his crimes to me and to our hardworking barangay officials... What's more alarming is that he told our brgy officials that the reason he came back to our peaceful town is that he is planning to steal again, because the one he stole from me was sold cheap... in 2006 I already filed a complaint to our barangay against this thief... But our competent officials told me " good luck.... hope you catch him.. if you do... just bring him here "WOW PHILIPPINES!

sir savers for what I've heard is that the thieves had been turned over to the DSWD countless times before, and the DSWD are refusing custody now because they always escape. My bike wasn't stolen in the park. they break in to our garage and did the most unimaginable... they took a dump on our garage after they stole my bike.. they do this act as their trade mark "nakaw ebak gang" (how do I say that in English) Sir pls do search for that special law... I want to share it to our brgy officials because most of the time they dont know what they are doing....

tough situation bushdoctor. my first reaction is to beat the cr@p out of thieves, but after calming down I realize my own actions are just as uncivilized and could land me in jail. it's unfortunate the authorities are worthless, even for a repeat offender. without a deterrent he'll keep doing the same thing... this is simple behavioral psychology, right? would something like this work... get his picture (booking photo if the authorities ever bother to take one), name and list of all offenses he's been accused of (wouldn't hurt to make up a few), and any known associates (you could throw in names of people you don't like ). scan and print. pass out to neighbors and nearby businesses. maybe even post some in highly visible places. kinda like a neighborhood watch program against thieves. this would make him highly recognizable as a convicted thief. everyone would recognize him and know his reputation, the word would get passed around that he's been seen in the vicinity. it might keep him from coming back. or is this too much work for something that has no chance of deterring his actions? How about starting a thread on known bike thieves and posting their photos? make other members aware of these perps. PinoyMTBiker's "most wanted" list.

Our foreman caught a teenager trying to steal my dads scrap iron mtb ( if he asked I might have given it to him ) When I arrived sa bahay , the guys had tied him up by the hands and neck in front of a vehicle Someone had called the presinto and 4 mobiles arrived filled w/ cops puro nakamahaba It was embarrassing, all because that little piece of $h!t tried to grab a rusty bike to be sold for scrap iron The cops hauled him off, dunno what happened to him probably released since I didnt file a complaint but I doubt he'd come back 3 days later his uncle comes back to ask for the pedicab the thief was using when he was caught but when I came out of the house he was gone I gave the pedicab to guy who caught the thief
Haba ng kwento ko , nakakainip haha

i personally believe that a law protecting a juvenile from prosecution is @#$%...it sorts of giving a presumption that they are brainless and incapable of recognizing the difference between right and wrong.
for effenders 10 yrs and below, i say their parents should be jailed with them.

Even if the thief was a minor. There should still be an investigation. For instance, who is his buyer? I'm sure the buyer is not a minor, and should be jailed for buying stolen goods (anti-fencing law).

That's why syndicates are using minors ...precisely because of this "juvenile law"

is it possible ti pick the lock of the hand cuffs by a wire... I mean this kid manage to escape even he's been hand cuffed to the bars... I thought this only happens in the movies. but thats what the brgy officials told me.....the kid was still there at 7:30 in the morning the brgy tagay only went out for a coffee...and when he came back the kid was nowhere to be found... they did'nt even bother to look for him probably because their office starts at 9:00 and they had a hangover......... to cut the story short..I searched for the fugitive and guess who I found..... his partner which is also a fugitive near our brgy hall in an internet cafe playing MU....... and they told me that they are nowhere to be found....

Yukon, you made me waste 1 hour at work watching various lock picking vids (not at all a bad thing). This stuff always fascinated me... not that I would break into peoples houses or cars, but the fact that locks can be defeated in the hands of the skilled.

Interesting! Ebak gang? What a name for losers! If they tried that on me and i caught any of them, i would tie them to a post and feed them sh!t! Sh!t stew for ebak gang! That should be their trademark if they got caught - a mouthful of sh!t! Where do they operate again?
