btw timothy, next time i think its best that you consider using a beater bike for your commuting purposes...use "the bike" for exclusively for your regular rides.. a giant xtc with lx level components is just too much of a bike for commuting, i think...sayang talaga...kung sa akin yan baka di ako makatulog ng isang lingo. last night was hard, hehe. six more nights to go. thanks for the words of comfort, mga prends. Onie, when you met carlo the bike was still ok. Hubie, go and get a bike pa rin. There are so many things a bike gives you. Besides, cars get stolen. Cellphones get stolen. Even your TV in your house can get stolen. Bikedaddy, yep, the conspiracy thing is under investigation. Tolits, no cameras in the parking lot. But plans are under way to install. Still praying here for a miracle...

tim, brad.
yes miracles do happen....but:
1. a blotter should me made with the lespu station that have a jurisdiction on the area.
2. a formal complaint should be filed vs. the agency in-charge of the security since they seems to be amiss with their jobs considering that your bike was lost in an area which they were supposed to secure.
losing things inside your home or whatever is one thing, but losing things inside premises which are supposed to be secured is another thing.
somebody should be responsible, or for that matter, head/s should roll.
i agree with tolits...next time have a beater bike for commuting.
again sorry for the loss brad.

i guess we should now start considering this Lock Alarm Multi Item Cable AlarmThe Lock/Alarm has an ear piercing siren that will scare away potential thieves. When an attempt is made to cut through its ultra hard steel cable, or attack the main lock unit, the alarm starts screaming! Compact and simple to use, the Lock/Alarm can provide 24 hour protection for valuables left unattended outside. It is ideal for when you are on the move for securing equipment while it is in transit. on vehicle racks, in the back of trucks or on trailers. Suitable for use in all weathers and environments the Lock/Alarm can be used freestanding or anchored to a wall, post, side of an RV, or fixed directly onto bicycles or machinery using the brackets supplied. The Lock/Alarm weighs just 0.5kg (1.1lbs). When not in use the plastic coated cable winds neatly around the main unit and clamps tight. It requires a high quality 9 volt battery which fits inside a tamper-proof internal compartment and which will last for many months of use. *Simple and quick to use *Compact 14cm x 7.5cm x 5cm (5.5" x 3" x 2") *Two cable lengths available; 2.4m (8ft) and 4.6m (15ft) *Indoor & Outdoor use, and in all weathers! *Battery operated (1x 9v required) - fits inside tamperproof compartment *Portable - use freestanding or anchored to a wall, post or directly onto bicycles or machinery *Can be attached to RV roof ladder or wall. Hello to all:
Thanks for the Mods there is a section for stolen bikes. This time we have an edge, once a bike was stolen, my worries is about other components. suggestion ko lang, mag lagay kayo nang markings, ex. sa seat post maglagay kayo nang initials sa dulo.
The problem is if the buyer knows that bike was stolen, will he/she buy it? For me DON'T BUY STOLEN BIKE!! Kasi meron KARMA attached to it..
pray 1st always..

So Guys , what could be a better solution or at least how to avoid all these? Could we register our bike frames serial nos, name/brand, components w/ its corrsponding serial nos.(maybe to long to be posted) name of owner. If we post someting on sale could we put these codes . its just like having a database of the members bikes and its compnents (optional only to those who wants security on their bikes)

How to store ur bike at home: find a 110volt outlet connect wire to bike frame then padlock ur bike.... it'll be pretty tricky to use bolt-cutters while getting electrified...lolx..... Sir I am wondering having a soviet tesla coil at home (similar to C&C pc game), just don't know where to get one ;D that would be fun he he he.

uhmm bolt cutters are rubber insulated grips 110VAC/15amps won't pass thru a suspected robbers. How about put 4 well trained (to kill) pit bull/guard dog.
I lost 2 BMX bikes when I was in high school, Miss those bike, I work hard for it. They deserved for severe punishment, kasi they won't learn from there mistake(robbers).
take care, ride safe

For me, be aware in your surroundings... when we park our bike. Be sure you have the best and efficient lock or something that will protect our bike/s. Keep pushing ! ! ! Saluti ! ! !

For me, be aware in your surroundings... when we park our bike. Be sure you have the best and efficient lock or something that will protect our bike/s. Keep pushing ! ! ! Saluti ! ! ! I've lost three bikes since I started biking.
The first one was an easy rider through bike jacking in highschool
The second one, my 1st mountainbike in 1991, got stolen a few months later in the garage of the house even though it was cable locked. They left the lock.
After a 12 years hiatus, I again bought a bike in Feb. 2003. It got stolen again sa garage by October.
Two weeks later, I bought my current bike. I'm a regular bike commuter and always bring two bike locks with me. If maluwag pa panniers ko, I bring three Using two bike locks is an added deterrence for would be theives. Aside from that, I take note of where and when(day or night time) I park my bike. Very visible from security or near where the guards congregate(o tumatambay). I also try to connect or say hi to the guards din when and where I park my bike. Chikka in short. They'd sure to keep an extra eye on your bike if your nice to them. I also keep my bike very undertoned, di tawag pansin in short pa di mainit sa mata ng magnanakaw.
Just sharing... ;-)

hey ricky, now im paranoid coz i always leave my bikes inside our garage knowing that i live inside a small village where all neighbors are friendly and no records of robbery within the village since we transferred there......hmmmmm now im really really careful after my 1st mtb got stolen last march. i always bring locks all the time where ever i go with my bike and i always leave it visible to security guards. now im also considering changing the color to a flat color, maybe white or red. hmmmmm good idea

what if after locking our bikes securely - we also cover it as shown below - (fully covered). at least the would be bike napper won't be able to see if the covered bike is expensive or not ;D ;D ;D or perhaps - the would be bike napper would even think that it must be an expensive bike coz it's covered what are your thoughts on this

this is risky, for all you know, only the wheel is left there... ;D and this really happened although for a different item. have a friend in the military and he narrated a tale to me about a mortar they kept under a poncho to protect it from the weather. you can't see the mortar under the poncho although you'd see it's shape. on inspection day, the mortar was already missing and a bamboo was in its place. funny and sad at the same time... what if after locking our bikes securely - we also cover it as shown below - (fully covered). at least the would be bike napper won't be able to see if the covered bike is expensive or not ;D ;D ;D or perhaps - the would be bike napper would even think that it must be an expensive bike coz it's covered what are your thoughts on this

Nice idea to use cheaper bikes when alone but sometimes they still take it as long as it can be sold there was a bike that was stolen in our community, they still took it even if it was just a beater bike
