last night i was at a lespu station to report a small incident that could've been fatal. a speeding motorcycle almost hit me head on...
i was enjoying a night ride inside uplb. it was a peaceful night with the moon shining bright. not too much traffic. no sign of the strong winds yet. was about to turn right going out PEYUPS main gate when loud lespu sirens caught me surprised. in split second there was this motorcycle on the wrong side of the road heading towards me. everything was in slow motion. i didn't know whether to turn left or right. i was thinking the other guy was also confused. his headlights was off and all i could see was the silhouette of his fullface helmet. i thought i was going to die. good instincts guided me to barely avoid a direct hit but wasn't able to completely clear the path. our handlebars collided. i was thrown off the bicycle, the other guy went off balance, skidded and hugged the road. i could see him lying there barely moving. a lespu office ran after the guy. a lot of people running and shouting.
lost in commotion, i was unaware of what was going on. i got up, picked up my bike, a man asked me if i was all right, i said i was ok. i was standing there looking at the other guy being mauled by a number of people. then i started asking questions, who is this guy? what happened? no sensible answers were given.
then i went home. i didn't want to get involved, i'm ok after all. a few minutes later i was infront my apartment, and realized my seatpost was misaligned and the cover of my rear blinker was missing... i really got pissed off. i rode back to the scene only to find the cover broken in tiny pieces. a lot of people are now gathered around the guard post at the gate. the jerk was inside in handcuffs, blood on his face and a broken nose. he was talking and talking even when told to just shut the f&ck up. clearly drunk, maybe even drugged. it was starting to irritate me, if was only able to reach out and hit him. then people started pointing at me, "s'ya ho 'yung nabangga..." a lespu officer told me the whole story and urged me to file charges. i was thinking of what if's--worst case scenarios that could've happened--and decided to come with them.
first, we went to the barangay hall where a wounded woman was waiting. also a victim of the same guy. she got hit while crossing the street a minute before my accident. we filed a blotter. we went to the university health service for first-aid and medico legal. we're both ok now but we were told to take x-ray examination asap. after a long wait we went off to the lespu station where our statements where taken. we were asked to go back on sunday to file formal charges.
the guy is in jail now. happy weekend to him. he was with other motorcycle buddies before everything happened. they were suppose to stop at a lespu checkpoint at south supermarket a few kilometers away. while the others submitted to the checkpoint, this guy didn't stop. a warning shot has been fired and the chase begun. a lespu officer and civilian chased him. i couldn't imagine how fast they were going. on his way to uplb he hit a two woman. the other woman has not reported to the lespu yet so we don't know her condition. if i was not hit, this guy would have escaped his pursuers.
it happened 9:35pm. i got home about 1am. hassle talaga. but we need to teach these stupid @ssholes a lesson they would never forget. thank God i was lucky that i only suffered minor bruises and superficial wounds. my groins are hurting bad and my right foot, didn't feel it before. it was dangerous situation. what if he'd killed someone? what if i was killed? what if it happened to someone else i know and turned out bad? i couldn't text or call home all that time until now, i couldn't imagine the amount of worries it will cause. i'm from q.c. by the way, working here in los banos. so how do i tell my loved ones what happened without them blaming my bike. *sigh*
ride safe guys. life is short and we only live once.
