I got into a pretty bad accident two Wednesdays ago and had scratches on the right side of my face. My right eyebrow also got cut. My legs and arms took a couple of blows as well. Luckily, I did not suffer any internal injuries. I did get a mild concussion as a result of hitting my head on pavement. I did not have a helmet during that ride but even if I did, my face would have also been scathed in pretty much the same way if not just a bit less. Anyone who has had injuries to the face knows that it's definitely not pleasant. Thus, I am now seriously considering a full face helmet. Has anyone ever tried one before? My only concern is how hot it would get inside. I've read reviews at mtbr.com but the climate in America is very different from the Philippines. Some claim that the outside shell is hot but that it is cool inside because of the vents. By the way, I also wear glasses, so that's another issue I want to know about. I'm not particularly concerned about what people would think if they see a XC rider like me wearing a full face. I'd rather face mild and, in a sense , uneducated ( ) ridicule from other people than get screwed again. All I know is that I don't want facial injuries anymore in the future. ;D I am considering the Giro Remedy. In case someone has experience with it, please share it here. Thanks!

I also considering the full face helmet though I\'m XC rider, safety first is my concern... accident happen anytime, anywhere.
Go ahead brad... you\'re not the only one who thinks of it. I planned to buy one this December.

Hehe I guess we're together on this litolwin. Casco Viper MX www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=10718This one looks a bit more practical. I can snap out the chin guard if I feel that I don't need it (like for casual spinning inside the confines of a civilized village). Anyway, my accident happened because I was feeling a little bit confident about going fast. The only problem is where to find these helmets. I've only seen very few full-face helmets around town.

try the search button brad, this topic has been discussed quite recently. i'm using a proxy so i might give a bad link.
anyway, if you want a removable faceguard, Met Parachute is another alternative.
if you want vents but still a full face. Specialized produces one, try to call Dan's bike shop.

It would be nice to have a full face helmet with removal faceguard. You can use it for regular road rides and riding your bike from one lbs to another. Also good for simple trails and once you find it too technical or going for some downhill on your xc, you can put on the faceguard.
Would anyone know where I can find either the MET HELMET (Parachute) or the Casco Viper MX locally and how much?
