i dont think we have an archive yet of emergency numbers we can contact in case a fellow rider encounters a major crash or something that might need immediate medical attention.
anyone has any contact numbers for goverment emergency units at Marikina, San Mateo, Montalban, Antipolo, Sta.Rosa..... and other places where mountain bikers go out to ride?
in case someone gets badly injured (hope it never happens) and we need to call an ambulance or something. even chopper support if available/needed.
TIA

sir jojo
117, is this toll free. i think they charge ata if you call 'em...not so sure though
btw, i tried this. fast to respond but sometimes not helpful. like when a cop in a mitsubishi adventure (moonlighting as an AUV driver) pointed his service firearm at me while I was crossing Ayala on foot (stop sya so I crossed and he didnt like me walking slow in front of his AUV). 117 said pls file at your nearest local lespu station. gave em the conduction sticker number and other details. BTW, his ID says TRAFGRP...didnt pursue the case anymore.

if you are biking with me...you can dial our hotline from any phone and Smart cell. Dial 164 and they'll tow you, send an ambulance, send the lespu. pero its used by employess only.
117 for the Metro wide. Wish they had 911 here in RP

117 is fine, i was actually hoping for numbers for the local govt units or barangay halls near the trails.we will get faster reponse when needed. havent tried calling 117 (and i hope the need does not arise) but i think they will just re-route your call to the nearest lespu.response center where ever you are located.that will take time.

Related to this, I suggest we also store in our cel phonebooks the number somebody could get in touch with in case of emergencies. The number can be saved under "ICE" (acronym for in case of emergency) which is already a standard practice in some countries.
IN CASE OF EMERGENCY (ICE) NUMBER • Store the word “ ICE “ in your mobile phone Address book, and against it enter the number of the person you would want to be contacted “In Case of Emergency”. • In an emergency situation, people will be able to quickly find out who your next of kin are and be able to contact them. • For more than one contact name use ICE1, ICE2, ICE3, etc., respectively.

does anyone really do this? i have received a lot of emails as well as text messages about this but i have yet to know one person who actually does this. what i actually do is attach symbols or "A" before the name of my wife and my dad to make them appear as the first names in my cellphone's directory. i would agree with ghorio's post about the municipal contact numbers because most municipalities specially those in remote areas have ambulances; however, mobilizing them is another thing... Recommendation : I saved the listed telephone numbers in my celphone with the prefix "SOS" ...so example " SOS Montalban lespu " or "SOS Marikina hotline"
Maybe we can all do this so when we dont have mobile phones on us ...we can borrow any PinoyMTBiker rider's phone and the numbers are easy to locate and call
2 cents mio
