Mga dudes beware of riding alone night time along batsan road.
One of john wilkie's mechanics Mang Erning was stabbed 2x along batasan on his way home riding his mtb couple of nights ago. They (bad guys) tried to take his bike but mang Erning fought back and managed to keep his bike. fortunately he made it on his way home with the knife still stuck at his back. He was confined at the east ave hospital and he's ok now.

yep, heard the news ealier from israel as well.that place is really dangerous even in the day time.everyone,be very careful if you cannot really avoid passing that said place.even motorists are not spared.heard of stories of cars being hit by rocks and once the driver driver stops and gets out of the car, there will be thugs waiting to get him.
good thing mang erning survived.hope he recovers fully

The bamboo back pack wich he carries on his way home saved his vital organs.

I pass pa naman on Batasan route whenever I bike from North Fairview home to Maarat Wall. Not safe na pala.

Hello everyone! a newbie here. Nakupo, dumadaan pa naman ako dun to and fro our timog office via commonwealth ave am and pm, 3-4x a week, TO LOSE WEIGHT AND SAVE GAS SANA... kaso i might end up LOSING MY BIKE...AND MY LIFE... God forbid. I live in Zabarte, Novaliches. 1 month p lang nagbabike at 1 week p lng using my bike to and from office. Mas ok talaga sa gilid ng island along com ave tumahak kahit humahagibis lahat sasakyan lalo na 8-10 pm. We hope and pray it won't happen again to anyone!

Always ride with a buddy when you can't avoid going through this area. It's the easiest route pa naman from QC to Maarat.
Ride safe bros!!!

on a lighter note...... if while pedalling the batasan-san mateo uphill road and you noticed some suspicious looking character, the best way is to run with the bike to the other side of the road and smoke the downhill......... , tumana to UP still offer a better, if not the best alternative anyways, this is my regular route going home after almost all the trail rides and other than the "kunat" of the 1km uphill, i don't see anything wrong with this route (during daytime, i mean)

Yes during daytime there is nothing wrong with this route. This is the feedback I get from roadie riders who regularly commute this route. But during night time, cloak of darkness changes the equation drastically.

yep nothing beats prayer ghorio and strong legs/lungs!!! best to pedal out of harm's way in case you see some suspicious characters.
just be careful on the downhill part din...some tricycles tend to cross abrubtly always assuming that the biker has his fingers on the brakes.

The trick is awareness mga fafa Even carrying a weapon is useless if the bad guys get the drop on you Always be alert ( dapat naman talaga e ) , and aware of yur surroudings Dont get into routines , ride at different times at diff routes If something looks suspicious turn around and ride away Your bike is not worth a hole in the gut

Mang Erning is now okay and doing fine, if you have problem with your bike feel free to go John Wilkie Bikeshop and look for Mang Erning..now his taking taƱong marikina, ateneo route going back home mas malayo but much safer than batasan..but in the morning his taking batasan route his looking for the guy who stabbed him....hehehe.

Well thanks God for safe comeback of Mang Erning. Riding along batasan road is too dangerous to biker alone specially after sunset. So better ride with your buddies or group of 2 to 3 or more to prevent this bad guys from doing harm on us.

I do believe the group that strike Mang Erning is the same group who strike my ofcmate last year. I had posted the incident here pinoymtbiker.proboards7.com/index.cgi?board=stolenbike&action=display&n=1&thread=9338&page=1Didnt even get any updates from the lespu. Good thing Mang Erning is ok now. Sir its nice to hear that there's a man like you who can ready to help the civilians. Hope we can catch this guy and torture him ;D ;D ;D I believe they were the same group who holdap and bikenap my officemate (muntikan pang matanggal if di ko binackup). He was a groupmate of Mang ToTo and TiTo Art in Amari blvd.com club.

Sir I have this Idea on my mind...you might have seen those dudes at Araneta Center...like lespu in "Pacific Blue"...they are mounted on bikes and scooters...I think your organization may see the posibility of assigning new recruits here bcoz the old ones are no longer fit to run and chase these bad elements... Or even better since that area is really busy with people which is like a hub for the commuting public... I think it would be better that a group of these kind may be seen... at least they may think twice of doing such crime....
