www.pezcyclingnews.com/?pg=fullstory&id=4240Last year, I lost a very good friend. An absolute @#$% way to find out that, despite the folks I ride with thinking I have 5 of everything, I didn’t have the one thing that might matter most in a critical situation. By “critical situation”, I don’t mean 3k to go on a summit finish, and by “the one thing”, I sure as hell don’t mean a 13.99999 pound bike, or a mainline shot of caffeine. I am talking about the one thing we all should have when things go wrong. We all should have emergency info on our bodies (not our bikes…) in a place that both Medical Professionals and our ride partners can find. The information is at once simple and critical for things like allergies to medications or specific medical conditions and it also includes emergency contact info. I have been in a position a few times now where people needed to get to someone’s family and couldn’t. Instead, the group called all over hell and back, finally getting to a friend of a friend, and hours after the even, we finally got to their families. Selfishly, it took loosing someone very close to move me to realize what it felt like when you were fairly close to the person involved to get this article to you… And this isn’t the standard product review where we lucky bastards got a major league hook-up. I pulled out the charge card and insisted on paying (especially since it cost so d@mn little), even though one of the writers at Pez is sponsored by Road ID and they were happy to have us get the word out. Road ID have several products to suite your needs. Or maybe I should say that road ID have a few products that you’ll not notice until you need them… The wrist band is simple and light. The ankle strap is as well and both feature a bit of reflective material. The shoe tag weighs nothing and will fit over a shoe strap with ease and can also fit between laces. by Charles Manantan

Something like this?: It's also a good idea to save a contact number in your cel phone and label it as I.C.E. (in case of emergency).

or perhaps have somebody be contracted in making dogtags (for ID purpose) for PinoyMTBiker peepz (siguro mga P200.00 kasya na) tapos in joining organized rides this dogtag and helmet becomes a standard requirement. whadya think? nyaks! maybe we can have it made locally.just copy the style.were good at that naman e.hehehe

info on dog tags can be made possible by surplus/military stores surrounding camp crame/aguinaldo... much cheaper... if you dont mind something danggling on your neck, that is... but for safety's sake... better be with it than without it... i wish it can be made just like a credit card, complete with swipe strips for emergency purchases when 'we' pass by our favorite lbs... hehehe...

is this a dog tag sir or a bracelet? the dog tag might be a safety hazard in the trails because it is dangling around your neck so im more inclined to get the bracelet. my 2¢ worth...

yes let's go for it peepz, via the same route that we did when we made the PinoyMTBiker jersey, design, cost, re-design and ordering. and let's make this a PinoyMTBiker standard during rides as in helmet. both serves as a lifesaving device di ba? sir marc you are the pasimuno, we are only the panaguri. whadya think sir? let's do it! i like the idea of road ids/tags - let's go for it guys

you can always put the necklace/id tags inside your shirt/jersey...

am not sure if indeed a dog tag can be a safety hazard...soldiers wear them all the time...even in combat where its more needed...have not seen fafarock dangling from a tree yet ...you can wear it under the jersey naman during real nasty trail rides under the bushes...and i think its designed to break first before your neck does if ever it got entangled...maraming sasabit siguro bago yan like bags etc...teka nahahalata na ano gusto ko hehehe! i know its not as nice looking and hip as the bracelet type but i think its more sturdy and would last for a very very long time.

I don't think we need to bulk order this or standardize the design in anyway, since it really has to be done individually. anyone have any ideas where this can be made? I'll check out the surplus shops around crame, but I think they emboss the details. i'd prefer the laser etched type. most likely mga specialty stores lang meron nito.

the dog tags will suit just fine... it's the information engraved/embossed/printed on it naman is the important thing diba?

just kidding, anyway, let's all just do our own scouting this weekend. post na lang dito if you find one
