Rode yesterday from San Pedro to Los Banos , flatted twice my tires blew up because of the heat. or nasobrahan ako sa krispy kremes hehe Mid Day heat is a killer , ride early morning plus less traffic
You're a new student? I would suggest going thru the back door ng Laguna, rizal to sta maria Laguna , to pagsanjan , sta cruz till Los Banos If you ride early in the weekends , you'll meet lots of roadies riding from Rizal until San Pedro
Enjoy LB If you see some people nakatambay sa baker pool side or sa labas naka bike late afternoon that would be us

you take Manila east road and that is rizal........its near C5 and Rosario in ortigas pasig..... to avoid further confusion.......... do you know floodway area? if not just take ortigas all the way to ortigas ext.(after junction in cainta) then from that end........its either you turn left which is goin to Antipolo or right which is goin to Manila East Road......... so turn right then that's the rizal route going to Laguna but.........it will be a century ride route coz i have been there and it's a long road trip........... when i said long it is really long.......longer than john holmes pen**

tim,
if i may butt in, the backdoor route sir allegra is mentioning is the route to caliraya eh (cainta- taytay- binangonan-morong-bugarin-mabitac-pangil-pakil-paete-kalayaan-cavinti-pagsanjan-sta cruz-bay-los banos (the road from cainta to kalayaan is via the east manila road, good roads, scenic views and not so many vehicles, unless you want to skip the cainta-tatay-binangonan (flat route) and instead pass antipolo via tikling and down to morong, the other climbs are in bugarin (around 6-8kms(?) of gradual climb) and the one in kalayaan to cavinti (going up to lake caliraya/9 kms of medyo makunat climb).
you might want to pm kram (handle niya yata is markzochi) kapwa peyups mo si kram and he's with UPM yata.
HTH and good luck and God Bless you on your new "job posting"

Sorry , I'm not familiar w/ rizal either At Pakil Laguna , there's a carinderia where the roadies from Laguna would meet the roadies coming from Manila I'm not a student either, too old even for a doctorate

If you ride early in the morning, just hit c5-sshway service road-alabang-san pedro-binan........to los baños. Purely road.... its a shorter way compared to the backdoor route!
Good luck and dont forget the front light and the blinker!

@timothy, my parents live in batasan hills. where will you stay in los baños? you sound very confident, you must have a lot of bike training already. i'm a noob, so please be gentle by mid-june my body must be ready to endure a long ride. plus my new bike should be appropriately equipped by then. los banos to q.c. -> hmm... the kilometer post reads 58 in lalakay, los banos (uplb add maybe 2k).. so how far is that?

leflea hmmmm......batasan hills...... stay one weekend with your parents (with your bike of course!) at batasan hills and let's ride one sunday at the infamous wall and the trails of maarat.give us a holler if you intend to do so and we'll give you a newbie ride and btw tim is from lagro, so if you intend to ride uplb to kyusi tim can ride with you up to somewhere near batasan road before he heads home to lagro. see you info: if i remember it right, greywall (who is from commonwealth near batasan hills) did commonwealth-sta rosa-tagaytay-commonwealth and his cyclocomp registered something like 170km++, tim did that too, right tim? so you can estimate how far a uplb-kyusi ride will be. start early....beat the heat

hi theflea, i myself is not that knowledgeable with gears but to share some very minute knowledge: 1. i bought a good (red) blinker for P200.00 2. some peepz i read in the discussion says that an LED front light daw is good, i myself bought a "dirt cheap" not-being-used-anymore cateye front light for P200.00 3. i bought a full-finger gloves (turbolite) for P650.00 4. i understand that basic entry-level 1.5L hydration pack area available anywhere from P800-P1k HTH

The lady told me both are weather proof, but i'm not really sure for the head light since it doesn't have any rubber seals on it.

mgtimothy,
You could also explore this route.
QC-Pasig-Pateros-Tuguig-Muntinlupa-Sn Pedro-Sta.Rosa-Binan-Calamba-Los Banos.
This is passing through the Metro Manila towns by Laguna Lake to the National Road to Sta Cruz. You will share the road with Jeepneys & Buses...
The part, Pasig-Pateros-Tuguig-Muntinlupa, is parallel the route suggeted by ghorio passing through (c5-sshway service road)
but connects to the this part Muntinlupa-Sn Pedro-Sta.Rosa-Binan-Calamba-Los Banos. (alabang-san pedro-binan........) same national road. If you ride early in the morning, you can be there lunchtime or early afternoon.
from: ghorio "If you ride early in the morning, just hit c5-sshway service road-alabang-san pedro-binan........to los baños. Purely road.... its a shorter way compared to the backdoor route!"
When do you plan to ride to Los Banos?

Sir Arci & everyone. We can ask the people of San Pedro/Biñan Laguna MTBikers for some tips in their area where the route will pass through & if they want to join... -- the part after Alabang, Muntinlupa to Calamba, Laguna.
