AS OF TODAY MONDAY, DECEMBER 18, 2006, 1:00 pm, this bike, MY BIKE is being evicted by the new parking management. Located at the back of Philamlife Bldg. along Valero St., they are now asking me move my bike elsewhere. MY offer to pay for parking has been refused. Sigh ! It's really sad cause this is where I have always parked ever since I started working. This act of service refusal is clearly prejudicial. I am dearly saddened by this and I dont know what to do. maybe some of you can help. I am an employee, a taxpayer, I have rights too. Please help. I'm sure there are more spaces to park in. Besides, I don't think the cage was made for your bike. What's prejudicial about their decision? I'm a taxpayer too, so does that mean I can park there as well? How about our other tax-paying brothers in PinoyMTBiker? Can they park there too?

okay okay just talked with the new park people.... looks like were getting our point across!!!!! I still get to park there with a minimal parking fee of Php15 a day flat rate!!!! Its fair, its even better I guess cause since they'll ask for fees will mean they will have liabilities too!!!! Yahooo, I dont mind paying for minimal parking fees as long as due services are rendered. Wow advocacy does work!!! yippeeee

Just to make sure we dont get tangled into semantic arguments let me state my sentiments once more: To let cars park for a fee and not allow bicycles to park for a fee IS prejudicial. Also yes, if I can park there so should you my dear friend. It's frist come first serve. peace man and ride safe.

Am so glad for you JakeCastle that your bike will be allowed to park in that caged structure at the back of Philamlife Bldg along Valero St. Advocacy does work. All is well that ends well. I know you are happy. I was worried kasi for you last Sunday when we were together at Amari Powerplant and you complained to me about the possibility of you losing your bike parking space sa Ayala Corporate Land. Not anymore for 15 petot!

Also yes, if I can park there so should you my dear friend. It's frist come first serve. peace man and ride safe. To let cars park in parking area (paid or unpaid) and not have bikes park in that same area (paid or unpaid) IS prejudicial. The way I see it, and correct me if I'm wrong, the area where you park your bike isn't made for bikes to be parked. The make-shift enclosure is actually a gate, right? Para iwas semantics: dehins ginawa ang rehas na 'yan para maging paradahan ng bike. So, they have the right to not let you park there. You'd have a water-tight case if you had said that they can't allow you to park in the parking area- PERIOD. If the enclosure were a parking area, then that's a different story- and it would definitely be bigger for more bikes to accommodate. I think they just want to avoid liabilities in case something happens to your bike when they need to move the gate. Now thats my nice little parking spot in the heart of makati. Talk about lucky. As you can see it's completely enclosed best of all it's free. Whats even better it's just right beside the gaurd house and the yellow boys make tambay at the corner !!!!! Just bought a u-bolt lock yesterday to secure more though. Ever heard of squatting? Squatters think they own the land they're on to the effect that when they're told to leave, sila pa galit- inaapi daw sila. I'm not saying you're a squatter, man... I just see the parallelism here. okay okay just talked with the new park people.... looks like were getting our point across!!!!! Most if not all parking areas have a disclaimer for losses. Merry Christmas.

Insular parking is now being RUM by METRO Parking.
There no more flatrate for cars (3pm to 12am)
Hey jake hows your bike? would they still allow you?
I was surprise by this sudden change of management.
It sucks really!!

Most if not all parking areas have a disclaimer for losses. Merry Christmas. Yes I just parked today, without the cage. Yes they issued the reciept as expected and read the fine print. Unfortunately, I saw the disclaimer... darn they are not liable if anything happens to your car... or my bike. WOW I wonder what if a car thief would go to the parking spot, hotwire a car, find the reciept and does grand theft auto. Actually it was the kind gaurds who did the enclosure for me. It wasnt my idea, it was the kind hearted gaurds of the previous facility. Sir BRUSKO thank you very much for comparing me to squatters. I come form very humble begginings. I studied hard and struggled to be where i am now. I do not belong to the rich conos like some people. Part of my education was subsidized/STFAPed in part by squatters and conos who pay their taxes. A lot of the poor folk actually have better values, manners and breeding than some. HEhehe anyway... the ayalas dont run this parking lot. It's actually METRO PARKING. Can anyone verify if this company actually belongs to a Malaysian Conglomerate. If Metro parking IS a MALASIAN CONGLOMERATE, isnt IT STRANGE THAT I AM SQUATTING ON PHILIPPINE SOIL which is being run by MALAYSIANS? err I am paying these malaysians for parking in Philippine soil. At least the malaysians are letting me park. Bt whatever happened to NATIONAL SOVEREIGNTY and the CONSTITUTION??? The parking facility are free from liability due to their disclaimer printed on the ticket ? (Thanks sir brusko for pointing it out.) What a giant heap of cr*p!!! If they charge for parking they ARE liable.... (Gayao & Almazan Law firm said so) Besides how can it be squatting when public establishments are mandated by law to provide for parking facilities.... Anyways Insular Life gaurds offered the use the parking facility for free. Am being stubborn about parking because I want to stand up for the rights of cyclists. We all need ride through the stigma being attached by society to cyclists.

JAKECASTLE, appaluse to you brad for insisting on your rights for bike parking. free is the best, but even if they make us pay, as long as the facility is available di ba (and the other modes of transport are paying too). at least making the facility available to bikes is a recognition that a bike is also a means of transport.
i remember some of us mtbbabes, after riding from UP, decided to eat in Pancake House along Katipunan. they provide parking in front--for cars. when we tried to park, they said we couldn't. we said why not, this is parking for your customers right, and we're going to eat. so they let us park our bikes in the space they originally envisioned for cars. sometimes rather than argue they just let you be heheh.

Ive seen this bike everytime I go to the Valero carpark 2. ;D Guys it would not hurt to know the guards, many of them are rides bikes too. I was riding on the sidewalk the other day and from far I saw this guard flagging me to stop. I said to myself "darn, now they wont allow me to bike in the sidewalk?" (in filipino ofcourse), it turns out this guard knows me from seing me ride in amari and we talked a bit. He asked why I now have a seat on my bike ;D Not only will it help you park your bike, or have someone look after your bike becuse of genuine concern, but you cannot have too much friends. Unless you are prejudical too (not meant to go on the prejudicial topic mentioned earlier ;D).

Hi Boy! I think you are referring to 6750 steel carpark. Actually, we allow parking of bicycles in this carpark. What we don't allow is parking under the ramp which causes accidents from cars passing in that area. We are advising bicycle parkers to park on the designated bicycle parking. We will just correct the statement written on the picture to make it not sound like we are not allowing bicycles to park in that carpark:-) BTW, we are finalizing just finalizing the free parking area for bicycles in Ayala Center and we are also about to finish reviewing the rates. Expect an e-mail from us within the month for the final decision of management.
Thank you.

hi boy
this was taken at the open parking just right beside the 6750 bldg in ayala. as of late last year, that sign was still there and i hope car park management can do something about this. to date, i still see no bicycles being allowed in that facility. ...this is the one between 6750 and rustan's. anyway, am sending the pics to you hope it finds its way to Ayala. Likewise, thanks for this push. More power again and thanks for upholding the rights of cyclists like us.
Mabuhay!!!!
