Ma'am, good to hear you found a nice & safe route. Will you use "Cat" or "Violet" ? ;D I have one of those cheapo blinkers, but I'll probably add or modify that blinker. "tumutungo" yung blinker whenever I pass through humps or uneven roads. I'll probably add a head light as well. I think the key to riding safe in the rain is having lots or active lighting in front and at the back, and riding slower than your usual pace. hahahaha!! it is a nice route.. but safe? i doubt it.. i use the Black Cat.. i would have a hard time riding Violet that long a mileage.. i think i need to buy pepper spray pa.. pangontra -- Try looking for riding buddies as well. That would probably make your way safer not to mention less boring. ;D

i also "bike to work" twice/trice a week..... from merville paranaque to ortigas..... it is just a sweet 16 km via EDSA route (one way).... fresh smoke from the buses.... but usually I take the Fort route, pass by sabak for some dirt action.... on weekends I jaz login sa office then "work to bike" naman...... I even join the newbie ride at maarat on my duty hours.... I'm a model employee hehehe..... take a shower sa CR ng ofc kaya bumabaha.... also wash my bike dun..... make sampay my dirty shirt sa satellite dish namin..... maybe the radiation ng satellite kill all the viruses on my shirt.... ang the best is to bike on heavy rain..... risky but it is really fun biking on rain..... it brings the kid out of me..... bike lang ng bike

Guys how do you beat the midday heat? I tried biking to work once but i can't bear the heat of the midday sun. i have to go home at lunch (my workplace is only 8 kms away and takes me about 20mins ala kc traffic) because if i don't go home for lunch i will be spending more for food than gas and i will spending almost twice as much

well, midday sun for me is my going home time which is 2pm. i just put a sunblock lotion and i drink a lot of water every 5-10mins to lubricate my dry throat and my speed is just phasing coz if you hurry up you'll just drain yourself. i already observe my energy going to work (4AM) and going home (2PM), i get easily exhuasted when biking under the sun at 2PM. its just a matter of mindset, whether it's raining or shining (too hard) you have to get home even if your tired, and what more important is you should get home safe. if you cant stand the heat just look for a shaded place and stop/rest for 3-5mins. i do that oftentimes if i dont want to go home right away. ;D

ahhh.. just came from work.. biked to work today. Nice weather this morning, not so hot. But at this PM the rain started to pour. Went to the gym then a couple of errands after. I find it difficult to ride in the rain, specially in the dark. I think I should weather proof myself..
Any suggestions on what to wear? Will ordinary raincoats do, or are there raincoats for cycling?

**once pa lang na-flat when my bike was on parking lot (under the tree). (snake bite pa!!) huh?? yikes! what's the story there? earlier that night before i go to work, i added tire pressure 40PSI from 30PSI. going to work i didnt notice it because it was still in good shape by the time i arrived and left it parking lot. after 8hours of work, i logged out (2PM), change clothes and go straight to my bike then i just notice that my tire is already deflated i asked a cab driver to assist me in bringing the bike to the nearest bike shop and changed the inner tire for 80bucks including service. but its ok, compared to a car flat tire. less maintainance and saves a lots of money with P30.09/Liter gasoline >>>>bitter!!! hehehe btw i paid P100 for the cab so total of 180bucks on way going home. hehehe

Got lots of extras in the office.. extra shirts, pants, briefs, towel. I also have backup in the gym. I stack up on this once a week, so I just take it home one by one.
I find this strategy effective.. but you have to have a locker or somewhere to place your clothes.

@cool - tama si STYX, you'l get wet pa rin with a raincoat on (you can't cover your legs and shoes, and your pawis has nowhere to evaporate). but i use a raincoat as a windbreaker, kasi when you're wet and running fast, it gets cold.
ALLEGRA - wha?! you put kalabaw in your mami and dogs in your goto? i dread to ask what you do with horses... ;D

just finished assembled my bike last two weeks, then tested it in sabak track at the fort. ok naman pag kakabuo, no problem so far. yesterday bike to work ako, woke up 6:30am in the morning then padyak from nichols to astra (service road) with matching akyat sa bangketa, double jump pag may kahoy or harang sa kalsada. 15 minutes lang sa astra na ako then deretso sa shower room, pwede rin sa swimming pool ehehe. tapos biglang umulan.. mabuti na lang sa hapon dehins na umulan. Guys what mud guard do you recommend? and how much?
