1st of all, be careful when shopping in the vicinity. Not just for the things you're buying, not just your wallet that might disappear, or your backpack/shoulder bag/shopping bag that gets slashed without you knowing... Walk fast (not the luneta pasyal pace), keep looking behind you (sometimes a kid is playing with your bag) Don't bring gf or kids, they distract you and make the snatcher's work easier. 2nd of all, re camera stores... Each store has its own source/specialty/price psychology. The trick is to get their phone numbers and call every store for a price quote. Compare. Go to the store and ask again (without bringing money). If they treat you badly, go to a different store and get back some other day when they feel better. (tsamba tsamba lang, sometimes bad trip the salesladies or owner, they pay it forward.) When you're sure of what you want and sure of the price then that's the time you shell out your money. Bring friends over to keep you company. I grew up in noodletown, and Hidalgo-Avenida-Quiapo haven't changed much. It's still my favorite shopping place...

Question...
I'm contemplating on getting an 18-200 lens. Is the difference between canon and sigma lenses really huge in terms of quality and durability?
The price difference between the two brands are significant. Plus, I can trade my kit lens and get a 3000 peso discount on the Sigma.
I've been reading the reviews in the net, but I want to get you're opinion as well.
TIA

In some instance the difference may just be the Orings that holds the lens in place, meaning, with non-Canon lens, if you point the camera up and down, the lens will sliding in and out by itself.
In some instance, there are differences at the lens widest opening. In some instance, there are differences at the edges of the photo. In some instance, the autofocus motor is noisier or slower.
You can check the internet for people who done side by side comparisons and decide for yourself if you can live with the difference.

Sirs,
I plan to start a new way of making my wife furious other than buying MTB parts.
Any idea of the price of Nikon D40 or D80? Is there a D60? Sir gadgets88 told me I can't go wrong with Nikon.
Is there a big price difference in quiapo and the malls? Do they have credit card installments in Quiapo?
Thanks in advance!!
Cocoy

Call up each store and inquire. Drop by the store and inquire. No need to show money, window shop first!

Sayang! Sorry to hear that brad. If it didn't happened maybe you're now a D300 owner!!! Btw, I got my first DSLR only last week. Also, I'm new in photography and attending a Photography class (skulboy ulit!). Actually, D300 is my real choice but having a lack of budget it's still remain as a dream. But wait! D80 is a great choice camera for entry-level. I never regret being one of the owner of that camera. Just what other's (even pro's) always say, "a budget camera w/ more lens!" and a good eye in photography. Also, just what you have said "practice makes perfect". That's it! Proud to be NIKONian!!! ;D
