Came across these posts. I find it funny, thinking how Paul and Jon's friendship began. Oh how it blossomed!

wow, how sweet naman ng posts namin ni paul with each other. hehehe. ;D
but what's more funny is how i started here in PinoyMTBiker. but before that, a short prelude.
one day when me and my GF (my wife) went on an overnight camping trip to batulaw, this guy on an XC rig stopped at the trailhead and started to ask questions about how to get to the campsite. gave him the info and off he went.
i was amazed with this guys tenacity and eagerness. he got to the campsite of which he didn't know how to get to, he was also riding solo, but most of all, he was riding a bike. i never knew that it would be possible. and he was fast. we got to the campsite just a few minutes ahead of him, considering he got lost. he stayed just a couple of minutes and left afterwards. so i was thinking also that this is a great substitute for outdoor backpacking which usually required 2 days.
so after doing research, i decided to assemble a bike, twas december 2003. started out with a deore v-brake grupo, a stiffee generic frame (marzocchi decals), and an RST fork (with fork boots) and 26X1.5 MOB slick tires. my first trail ride was, (where else) in batulaw, december '03 din when our family checked in at a hotel nearby. i was riding solo and even using slick tires. i wasn't even wearing a helmet (sheesh!) and didn't even bother to bring a water bottle becoz i was such a super newbie, hehe. i got to the campsite in less than an hour and even ran over a snake's tail along the way, hehehe but i was so da*n thirsty and had to beg for water from a backpacker, hehe. although it didn't occur to me that i was alone, i thought it would be great if i could hook up with a group.
so i surfed on the internet looking for MTbiking clubs. that was a month after my trail ride to batulaw (january 2004). so i joined every possible email group, forum, club, or whatever, as long as it catered to mountain biking.
but along the way, i never thought that some of my outdoor buddies were also into mountainbiking. so i hooked up with them until suddenly, they were getting scarce either becoz they got tired of biking or they dont have the time. somewhere in between, riding with my outdoor buddies, i met louie pasaway, who became my riding buddy. but even louie cannot provide all my XC riding needs, hehehe. the rides were getting scarce and he even sold his bike. but he did however mentioned something about logging into PinoyMTBiker.
so i tried creating an account. that was around january 2005. funny thing though when i tried making an account using mountguitars (that used to be my email address but thanks to spam, its inactive), the site said that that account is already taken (to that effect). so i created a new account instead (fsxcdh) which eventually worked. and after logging in, i found the PinoyMTBiker site informative and biker friendly. but it kinda ticked me off knowing that somebody else was using my account (mountguitars) knowing that its such a unique account. hmmm......it made me think hard so i tried logging in using mountguitars and the password that i've always used with that account. and voila...............it worked! i was able to log in. and it even says that i was a member since january 2004. hahaha, ;D. i laughed so hard afterwards. so technically i was a member of PinoyMTBiker since january 2004 but i was only active since january 2005.
sorry for the long story. it was just so funny to remember how it all started for me here in PinoyMTBiker.
thanks to this site. i've learned a lot and met a lot of good people, too. more power to this site.

it was just last year, last quarter, i was internet window-shopping for mtb parts, i.e. mtbr.com, then i discovered this forum... i saw freeman's avatar and right away i recognized him as one of my co-member in a school-based mountaineering group. so, i registered myself in PinoyMTBiker... my first correspondence was with mountguitars (re: parts & still is!) & brus (re: abuyod-lagundi trail ride)... my first PinoyMTBiker riding buddy was melfdags (re: uphill to antipolo)... the rest is history...

hmmmm nice topic there bruce...One of my kumpare (absolutezero) introduce this site to me and his always mentioning that his with PinoyMTBiker but before PinoyMTBiker i once joined the ride of Ondabag somewhere in rizal and the next trip was in makiling with absolutezero then irid w/ absolutezero again and thats the time i meet freeman and jayms.. We were taking our rest to one of the stores and suddenly freeman came to assist his companion i dont know the name..hehehe and while resting we exchange chat and after wards freeman recognized me and told that his paul from tip and we have met before in mt pulag that was way back 1997 or 1998..hehehehe I have notice that freeman is like alex lowe "legs and lungs" as they called in mountaineering industry. Then after that ride freeman never mentioned about this site to me until one of my kumpare told me that he posted our pix in this site. And also that time i was selling my trek fuel 80 bike and searched for yahoogroups for moutainbiking and found out the email add and send some email and suddenly one of the members here give me the site and told me to post my bike here and unluckily i cant access the site in explorer so one member again texted me to used firefox and it works and until that time i se to it that i can log from time to time morning, afternoon and evening..hehehehe
thanks..

me, i was introduced to PinoyMTBiker on the Maarat-wawa ride, through Timothy, who was one of my very first mtb riding companions, since Sibol and TOF. got hooked on this very cool group and signed up immediately when i had the chance. ever since then, when i wake up, i dont turn on the tv for news or get a newspaper, perhaps. i log in first thing in the morning and be merry! morning, afternoon, night, dawn. as long as im awake, im here ;D this has been one of my life's biggest choices ever--joining PinoyMTBiker. first i just thought of having a bike, then join TOF and no more. but through PinoyMTBiker and its VERY supportive group, plus the people who encourage me to do more, i call them my mentors, i thank you all life changing, and lifestyle changing. my motorcycle's been missing me now ahihi ;D more power to PinoyMTBiker! p.s. how cute sir jon and sir freeman's friendship started... kakakilig (shivers)! ahahay! ;D ;D ;D

Bought my bike without even knowing this forum exsited. Was into biking when I was in high school but since I saw very few riders, I never met any except for maybe 3 to 5 classmates. At that time, I wasn't aware of the inside trails of San Mateo so I did road riding on my mountain bike. I eventually got bored riding with no one so I quit the sport, sold my bike and got into cars. Last year August, I bought the bike I'm currently using. My intention was basically to lose weight. I was in bad shape. So bad that I could feel my (.)(.) jiggle when I ride a jeep! I never knew this forum ever existed but I was pretty d@mn sure that by this time, mountain biking was "in". I frequently saw riders along Commonwealth, UP, Katipunan and QC Scout area. My wife's bestfriend has a brother, Jimbo who happens to be from an upperbatch class of the same high school I attended. We were introduced and knowing he rode (saw his bike at their place before), I pounced on the opportunity to ride with him. He was the one who told me about this forum. Learned a lot since then... I've never stopped learning til now. We rode in UP about a couple of weeks after. Ang yabang ko pa... I was using my biggest chainring, he, his mid. At that time, that's the only way I could guage a rider. The very next weekend, he showed the Wall where I was introduced to Rocky (at that time, he was b1tching about how he lost his rear blinker) and Paul at the base. Jimbo whispered: "ayan, malakas yan si Paul." I said to myself: "Eh ang payatot niyan eh!" Climbed the Wall that day without a water bottle in fact. Took about 4 rests while Jimbo was on his mid chain ring. I even stood to take the first uphill assault but quickly gave up by the time I got to the Columbary. Jimbo and I were only able to reach one-fourth of the trail inside Timberland. It was my first trail ride and I got shocked at the friggin' mud! We turned back... bitin siguro si Jimbo nun! Me? I practically slept the whole day. I couldn't even walk at a party my wife and I went to that night. Lahat dumadaan dito. And just like what Jimbo did to me, I intend to pay it forward. Right Ronald?

Climbed the Wall that day.... I couldn't even walk at a party my wife and I went to that night. Lahat dumadaan dito. And just like what Jimbo did to me, I intend to pay it forward. Right Ronald? yes sir bruce. you did well coaching me back then. eventhough ive climbed it before, there are different days wherein you're just too weak. that day on, i practiced and finally able to climb up without resting and now im passing on the legacy, just like what i did on maarat with a newbie 2 sundays ago and sierra madre II ... although there are lots of strong riders on sm II, whom become my mentors on the way, since i learned strokes and resting strategies from them, ahihi thanks to all who've supported me. il keep on improving--which is a simple message to all of you who've told me not to give up and keep on riding sweet ba? ahihi

sorry about that jaymz. actually we were trying to catch up with milo becoz the 2 of you went ahead of us (we were late, sorry) so the least thing we could do is catch up with milo who's been calling us thru his mobilephone like crazy. but were not gonna leave anybody behind. even at a snail's pace, no one gets left behind. it just turned out that you're an outdoor person and we all know that you know the drill. we thought of you more as an outdoor person and not as a mountainbiker. we knew that you're not gonna give up whatever the cost, and i guess you already know that, too, hehe. ;D. hope to see you soon, jaymz.

hey what's this??? .. , where the hell did you get those post brus? , tagal na nun ah ;D.. well in my case.., as sir jaymz said, I was a backpacker wayback in 1996, that same year I also bought a mountain bike for training purposes, got addicted to both sports afterwards., It was then 1997, when I first trailed maarat via wawa, (pabaligtad) then I noticed the wall going back and I said "next week aahunin natin yan", the week after got acqauinted with some mtbikers from bikexplore team., sir milo, master jun etc., who then introduced me to the trails of maarat., as time past by, met more riders, and got to ride more trails around rizal areas., 2004 bikexplore opened an website and saw the links of this forum, was a lurker since using the name wheeler, then I lost a bike and thru this forum I assembled my new rig.., and changed my ID to Freeman., and rest is history hehehe ;D

i don't get it... why would freeman be welcoming jon to PinoyMTBiker when jon's joining date is jan2004, whereas freeman's joining date is jan2005? honga noh? well, to answer that question, here's my previous post. ......... i thought it would be great if i could hook up with a group. so i surfed on the internet looking for MTbiking clubs. that was a month after my trail ride to batulaw (january 2004). so i joined every possible email group, forum, club, or whatever, as long as it catered to mountain biking. but along the way, i never thought that some of my outdoor buddies were also into mountainbiking. so i hooked up with them until suddenly, they were getting scarce either becoz they got tired of biking or they dont have the time. somewhere in between, riding with my outdoor buddies, i met louie pasaway, who became my riding buddy. but even louie cannot provide all my XC riding needs, hehehe. the rides were getting scarce and he even sold his bike. but he did however mentioned something about logging into PinoyMTBiker. so i tried creating an account. that was around january 2005. funny thing though when i tried making an account using mountguitars (that used to be my email address but thanks to spam, its inactive), the site said that that account is already taken (to that effect). so i created a new account instead (fsxcdh) which eventually worked. and after logging in, i found the PinoyMTBiker site informative and biker friendly. but it kinda ticked me off knowing that somebody else was using my account (mountguitars) knowing that its such a unique account. hmmm......it made me think hard so i tried logging in using mountguitars and the password that i've always used with that account. and voila...............it worked! i was able to log in. and it even says that i was a member since january 2004. hahaha, ;D. i laughed so hard afterwards. so technically i was a member of PinoyMTBiker since january 2004 but i was only active since january 2005.
