HK authorities arrest teener who set up music download site
May 11, 2006 Updated 04:57pm (Mla time)
Associated Press
HONG KONG--Hong Kong customs authorities have arrested a 16-year-old student who set up a Web site from which others could download more than 600 pirated songs, the government said Thursday.
Customs officers arrested the student, who was not further identified, at an apartment Wednesday and confiscated his computer, the Hong Kong government said in a statement.
It said the student had been released on bail. It wasn't immediately clear if he had been charged.
Last year, the Hong Kong government prosecuted a man who shared movies using the file-sharing software BitTorrent. The defendant was sentenced to three months in prison.
Hong Kong's music and movie industries--among Asia's most vibrant--have also stepped up their fight against pirates.
Companies in both industries have tracked down Internet addresses where illegal file sharing is suspected of taking place and sought court orders demanding Internet companies provide personal details about the alleged offenders.
The Hong Kong record industry has reached legal settlements with at least 16 people who allegedly uploaded music for illegal sharing.

But is there a law in the States? Proboards is in the US right? We might incriminate ourselves vs TOS?

limewire has full of stuff too.... but too slow for me.... if you want a full album of your favorite bands... use bittorrent he he he... but for a single track only.... better use your limewire... - you can also DL single tracks via torrent. it'll still be faster. DL the album, and deselect all songs you're not interested in getting. But is there a law in the States? Proboards is in the US right? We might incriminate ourselves vs TOS? - P2P and bittorrent is not exactly illegal. what's illegal is the DLing of files protected by copyright laws. as for the TOS of proboards. i'm not so sure if discussing file sharing technology would constitute a breach of agreement.

I said that in a read between the lines sort of way because someone posted about DL files protected by copyright laws. Yes the topic isnt against the TOS but a reply/ies is/are, so im reminding against incriminating yourselves. PM nalang hehe. joes you may want to pm me for some videos I have ;D.
