Google? = God?, this is certainly a mismatch. Google can answer your queries in milliseconds! You'll have the best bike related advice at the click of your mouse....the possibilities are endless. Your answer right there in front of you!!! What more can you ask for? God? Nope, you have to pray first! .....but, when He answers it.....its the only thing that matters. Your life, happiness, the birth of a child, one precious breath. 2 weeks ago, i had a patient for Penicillin injection, it will be my third time to administer the med on him (he gets this every month). He is a known epileptic but still the injection must be given otherwise he'll die of RHD. After some routine pre-admin. procedures, I injected the drug IM, Penicillin IM is a very painful drug. So I told the boy to just lie prone on the bed for a while, he said the usual thank you, then I left the room. About 30 secs. after I left, his mother was hysterical. she was already carrying her son, urine and excrement dripping from the boy's shorts....the boy is having a seizure attack I thought. So I ordered her to put the boy back in bed so I can evaluate him. The 12 year old boy was really in seizure, but there is more. In a few seconds he went into cardiac arrest.....Yes, that rural-poor little son of a peasant is dead one minute after I gave the injection! In a blink, my career is in a downward spiral.....but I have to do something, CPR came into action. The first 30 seconds are crucial. Two minutes into CPR, VS are still zero. And then I muttered a prayer so short, God could have asked me to repeat it. In a few secs, the boy gasped for air! .....His hearbeat was so strong my stethoscope bounces in his chest, then he called his mom....... For everything else there is Google..... In a life and death situation there is God. So what is it that really matters? You answer.

ok ok my neigboor CPR'd his brother who dropped dead just two weeks ago. his brother came from bindge drinkin' all night long and probably some metamphetamane was inside his system (I used to be a Red Cross volunteer). After his brother couged chemicals and alcohol he just let him lie down on the floor and as a result drowned on his own saliva. He is now dead... Scary dudes! Life is short and insignificat compared to eternity...

"The beauty of religious mania is that it has the power to explain everything. Once God (or Satan) is accepted as the first cause of everything which happens in the mortal world, nothing is left to chance...logic can be happily tossed out the window." - stephen king
that's why i don't pursue arguements about devinity. but what i have is respect for other people's beliefs. let's try to be as objective as we can here. we all have our points of view.
lets agree to disagree kumbaga.

Mga kapatid,
I was often told by my elders that there are three things people shouldn't talk about: money, politics, and religion. I will bet my life that you've heard of this before and I wonder right now why we can't heed it. Don't get me wrong: I'm not raining on your parade, nor am I trying to arrest freedom of speech in this thread. I just happen to know exactly where this is all going.
You know, being a believer is as heavy as being an atheist. We all know that proving the existence of a god can go on and on. And so is proving whether a god is non-existent can be impossible to do as well. I'm not exactly sure why Max started this thread or how he wants it to go. One thing I'm sure of is, his intention was not to separate believers from non-believers. Niether does he want us to debate whether a god exists or not.
So guys, girls, kids, lolos, lolas and lolitas, take it easy on the posting. We're all one in this forum.

semi-OT: anyone here familiar with the occult? i know a little about the occult...jimmy page was one of them when aleister crowley led him to the dark side...jimmy page also bought the house of mr crowley where all the occult does human sacrifices... that's why aleister crowley was hailed as the god of rock... i've been reading some stuff about the occult latetly. specifically on occult relics like the spear of destiny and pieces of the true cross, and or nails of the true cross. they say that the spear of destiny aka the spear of longinus was the one used to pierce christ's body when he was crucified. legend says that longinus, the roman soldier, was almost blind. when he pierced christ and water and blood flowed from his body, it spattered some on his eyes clearing his vision. he exclaimed, trully he is the son of god! anyway, the spear has been said to posses some occult powers. through out history rulers have held the spear and made use of its mystical powers. the most recent of them being hitler. hitler was a nut for occult relics.

why naman bruce? i like this thread..think i'm learning a lot..kinda mind stimulating...unfortunately mas dumadami tanong ko..hehe!
i have the ff questions to those who dont believe in God.
1) if you dont believe in God why it is important for you to do good deeds? 2) what is your definition of good or good deeds.
am not gonna tell anyone you are wrong...i respect everyone's opinion...am just curious...i might have some follow up questions though.

try to separate religion and god first. then make your way from there. hehehe.
different religions have different thoughts about what their god is.
the muslims have allah.
the jews and christians have god.
the budhist have their own. (i think buddah was a prophet or something. im not so sure.)
the indians have so many dieties.
and rock and roll has ozzie osbourne (open to debate).

dont know much about God or religion...but when i look at people...they who have i think real faith in God look a lot happier...you can see it in their faces...must be working for them. on the other hand people including those who expressly say they dont believe in God..well, pati na rin yung others who say they believe in God but living but you dont see it in them hehehe! ...eh medyo dehins sila ganun kasaya sa buhay nila...in fact some the most bitter persons i know belong to this group..maaring experiences sa buhay nila ang dala sa kanila dito.. dont know. i'm not generalizing here...this is purely based on my personal observations. Very true One of the toughest persons I know gets her toughness from her faith Life has given her blows even I would have given up on Pero it's her faith that keeps her going AND happy It's too hard for me not to believe in God I've had too many blessings I dont even deserve

i'm learning as well:
allegra: no atheists in foxholes bikedaddy: cpr story
and lots more.
i worked with a Swede, goes by the name Richard Karlsson, to me he's goodwill personified, he's just about the most unforgettable person i've known because it was a unanimous observation in the project that he is good person for all the good deed he's done.
He's an atheist, he's proud of it but other than knowing his belief, i know nothing else except of his goodness.
I will never look at an atheist with animosity or indifference or negativity because of the way Richard Karlsson carried it and if my fellow Catholics might get offended at some of the posts here it's probably just the individual or this thing called "attitude"
I've probably even shared a moment with another "Richard Karlsson" and not knew it because it's probably the way it should be done according to their belief.
I'd like to believe that I had.

allegra - thanks for sharing this: "It's too hard for me not to believe in God I've had too many blessings I dont even deserve" here's a couple of mine: -I once told a friend that I didn't deserved my wife, because she's a nice person and I'm not. But I ended up telling the friend that if she ended with a nice guy that will probably bore her. -Everybody in the neighborhood greets my son, he's pogi and carries a pleasant attitude, takes after the mom, on both points. i know we all need money, we need food but if happiness is legal tender i wouldn't mind you calling me a tycoon peace out

[glow=yellow,2,300]Eh bakit ako, happy. No problem. Others are sooooo sensitive. If I am Robin Williams and would type the same words maybe they would laugh their hearts out! Hehehe! ;D Oh, and talk about good deeds! I believe in doing good things because the "RESULTS" can be seen... You make people happy! And it's proven! Good deeds didn't came from religion, IT CAME FROM HUMAN BEHAVIOR. Gets? ;D No? So if the word good would be turned into evil, I'd be doing evil things instead of good, coz' I'm doin' the right thing which is bad, not good. So basically, I'm doin' good deeds not evil deeds, which is right thing not wrong. So now I'm the evil one, not good. So, am I good or bad? Now I'm confused! [/glow]

Ben Dover - the wiki was sort of an inside joke for warlock. theist - believers in god/supreme being. atheist - non believers in god/supreme being. agnostics - doesn't have define beliefs. can go either way. yes atheist can be found anywhere. but watch out for posers. poser atheist tend to try to convince you that there is no god because it's cool. go for substance rather than show.

Thanks for the credit blister......But in my thoughts, 2 minutes into CPR, I really felt that I was losing him. And no amount of CPR skill can save the boy if his body does not respond, especially in a rural setting in the absence of a defibrillator or any cardiac drug. When all physical interventions fail, the power of prayer can save.... Here's another story ;D.....5 years ago, I hitched a ride with my dentist friend from work. It happened around 4-5pm, while we were cruising along maharlika h-way going to Lucena. When we were just several meters from a lespu outpost (Brgy. Talipan, Pagbilao, Quezon), I noticed some odd movements at the back of a flat bed truck that we were tailing. While the truck was decelerating, around 15 to 20 individuals suddenly appeared from under the "trapal' with what seemed to me as wooden rifles used by CATs except that I will later realize that those are actually real WW2 rifles....".Preno pare! mga NPA yan! "....But it was too late, we already heard the first volley of gunfire from the rebels. I cannot forget the sight when at least 3 bullets hit a man's head at the same time...the head just disappeared, pufff! The unfortunate policeman fell on the other side of the barrier.....meanwhile my friend was desperately flooring on the brake, but the car didn't stop until we're just 2 meters from the back of the rebels' truck. They are still shooting at the outpost while an amazona pointed her paltik towards us thru the car's window ordering us to backoff, but my good friend's legs froze for almost eternity, so she kept on shouting...waving her weapon in rage. I wasn't worried of her, I know she will not shoot us....but the soldiers inside will surely return fire at any moment, if they are still alive. We are clearly in their line of fire. I said; " Oh my God, not now. " Then the car started to move in reverse and my friend was able to maneuvre the car several meters away from the truck......then I heard a very loud explosion. When I looked back I saw the amazona lying on the asphalt, her body cut in half by the explosion from an M203 grenade right on the very spot where she was angrily pointing her weapon at us......Lucky? Maybe, but I didn't call him. I called on God. But if I happened to be an atheist, I'd be ashamed. Calling God in my moment of extreme danger....no offense

Nice thread going on here. This is good because we’re all learning.
I don’t think it’s fair to equate religious = good & atheists/agnostics = evil. Religion or whatever it is you believe in (i.e. Satanism, Scientology, Atheism, etc., etc.) is your guide in life. I’m Catholic but I’m not devout as say, my mother-in-law. I even tried being a Born Again Christian in my teens. It’s funny because they taught me that God is everywhere & that which saves us from eternal d@mnation is Faith. Faith is what drives the “religious” to do what is right. If that is so, then it really doesn’t matter what denomination you follow – as long as you have faith. So guess what? I’m went back to being Roman Catholic – w/c I don’t think I actually stopped doing if you really think about it.
Here’s my take. God comes in various forms to different people (heck, diff. Cultures): Allah, God, Buddha, Energy, Bathala, Zeus, Apollo, The Force (J), etc., etc. Different people have different “faiths” and that’s a good thing. We all have faith in something in order for us to do the right thing.
The only problem I see on the thread is how those who do not believe in God equate those who are Christians are relying on God to do the work – like in bikedaddy’s story. We know we are doing what it is that needs to be done. We just have God to assure us that everything would be all right as long as we do the right thing.
Personally, God puts me in check. When worse comes to worst & I have given it all, there is God who tells me that everything would be all right. It makes me think positively & not go “Why does all this sh** happen to ME!!!” That whatever happens, I have to move forward. It says in the Bible, God helps those who help themselves so religion is not relying on God to do the work. It relies on us to do what has to be done & be rest assured that everything will be all right.

here's another story, based on actual events: when i was in the orthopedic center, a loud cry woke us up in the middle of the night. we look around, together with a fellow wardmate the cry is coming from the spine ward, a ward for spinal injury related cases. A man cries because he can't take the pain anymore he wishes to die to end his suffering. my fellow wardmate who is ilonggo tries to comfort him. he said:" pagsubok lang yan ng dios, wag kang susuko." (Don't give up, it's just god's challenge to you)the man crying replied: " di ko na kaya tol" (Ican't take it anymore)ilonggo wardmate answers: magdasal ka lang (Just continue on praying)the man crying replied: " nagdasal nko sa lahat ng santo pero walang sumasagot " (I've prayed to all the saints but to no answer)ilonggo wardmate answers: " magdasal ka pa, wag kang titigil don't stop, pray harder)the man crying replied: " naubos na ang mga santo wala pa rin " (i've prayed to all of them saints, yet no reply)then the ilonggo patient loose his patience and shouted at the person crying ( read this with an ilonggo acent ) " magdasal ka kay santa clause, letse ka " (Pray to Santa Clause)i replied: " acheche!!! (nye! ;D)
