Kuya Eddie (or Arnel or Edgar)
I'm curious (as in curious since birth) about how different people react to chain letters. It used to be typewritten, then photocopies became acceptable, then lately, emails are simply forwarded.
What happened to Real prayers? Real hardwork? Doing real good deeds? Helping real people? Is there a religion that encourage or discourage this practice?
Is this the work of the saint or the devil?
Mr. proverbially inquisitive

seriously, GADGETS, are the days of the indulgencia(?), you know the padasals (e.g., you have someone else say prayers for your dead relatives), any different? shortcuts existed even then

post........... in fact, there was a time that chain letters were used sort of a racket or scam to earn money. it is where you send twenty five centavos to the person who is number one in the list, and in return you send it to the next 10 people wherein you become number 10 on the list..... jeez! curahee!

Example, here's what I got the other day: ----------------------------------------------- start -------------------------------------------- Here's an exact copy, this really works!!!!
1. Say yourself, say the name of the only guy or girl you wanna be with 3 times !
2. Think of something you wanna accomplish within the next week and say it to your self 6 times!!
3 . If you had 1 wish what would it be? say it to yourself 9 times!!!
4 . Think of something that you want to happen between you and that 1 special person and say it to yourself 12 times!!!
5. Now, here's the hard part! pick only 1 of these wishes and as you scroll down focus and concentrate on it and think on nothing else but that wish & final wish about that one wish that you picked.
After reading this, you have 1 hour to send it out to aleast 15 people, and what you wished for will come true within in one week! The more people you send it to, the stronger you wish will be! The more, the better! If you choose to ignore this letter, the opposite of what you wished for could happen, or it will just never come true
----------------------------------------------- stop ---------------------------------------------
I'm so tempted to forward the chain letter you see, but not after making a "short" lecture on: spamming, internet traffic, hacking, netiquette, hard work, ambition, values, Confucianism, Christianity, humanity... and grammar! ... and common sense!!!
But from my experience with many College students, they are so good with their cut and paste skills. Ask them to forward or print copies of a topic, expect a bundle, very fast.
But when asked to join a simple debate, everybody seem to shrink from their seats to the ground.
My question is... why forward chain letters?
Everybody knows chain letters are suspect. But we still get them, so that means the letter affects people... or their fears. Why be affected?
Another question is... are chain letters connected with religion?
The reason I'm asking is because my mind is programmed NOT to comprehend chain letters.
So I get to read those long chain letters, and all I can think of is hackers laughing all the way because of the flood these letters create.

Everytime I receive chain emails, or false emails for that matter, I almost always reply with a link to a page stating that that email's c r a p.
Sa mga false emails naman, unless the email's very amusing, I tend to remind the sender to try googling the email if there's truth to it or not, prior to forwarding.
I've been reminding some of my friends for a long time now to no effect I think. ;D ;D ;D
