Ahhh..... Led Zep rules!
My fave - Ramble on!
Did you know they were Lord of The Rings readers? Listen closely to the lyrics of Ramble on and you'll know.

jimmy page is the best!!! what could be his best guitar solo ever??? let me quote eddie van halen: "jimmy (page) plays (guitar) like a kid..." ...i think what he's referring to is that when page do live acts he cannot replicate his original solo or the solo would be like some kind of a kid practicing scales.... ...just an info guys...

Did you know they were Lord of The Rings readers? Listen closely to the lyrics of Ramble on and you'll know. Indeed! Accordingly, Led Zep - all four of 'em - were great fans of J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings series - as many as 5 of their songs have direct references to Tolkien's literary masterpiece - the most evident song being "Ramble On." According to "songfacts" it's possible that Stairway to Heaven also makes many references to Tolkien's story. For instance the phrase, "In my thoughts I have seen rings of smoke through the trees" could be a reference to the smoke rings blown by the wizard Gandalf. Some say the song itself was inspired by the novel - and that the lady spoken of in the tale is Lady Galadriel, the Queen of Elves who lives in the golden forest of Lothlorien. In the book, all that glittered around her, was in fact, gold, as the leaves of the trees in the forest of Lothlorien were, in fact, golden. Jimmy Page may not be the quintessential guitar virtuoso in the vein of Blackmore, Van Halen or Clapton. Many say he is better appreciated as the musical director/visionary of Led Zep, capable of conjuring an "army of guitars" which is to say that he is much more than creating tasteful solos - which he in fact does really well too. He was also among the first blues-based rock guitar players to succesfully employ exotic modes (i.e Dorian, Phrygian, Aeolian) in his playing, going beyond the more traditional pentatonic and blues scales. I like Kashmir and Immigrant Song's riffs. Of course the Stairway solo is golden and timeless. It's also the most popular/ played solo of all time (Ask Wayne and Garth...schwinng!)

And yes Page is indeed Slash's hero (more than Hendrix)

And yes Page is indeed Slash's hero (more than Hendrix) but Coverdale also rocks true. ( I liked his stylings on "Sailing Ships," in particular) Some people think that Coverdale actually has a better, more refined voice compared to Plant. It's just too bad that Coverdale got stuck in that whole glam rock bit in the late 80's (but then again Plant didn't really become a huge success as a solo artist, too)

yup coverdale hehe! i must agree he also rocks...like his power ballad but i forgot the title was it " Here i go again " of whitesnake or the ever so popular saudi boy's anthem " Soldier of fortune " of the Deap Purple. He also fronted the band Deep Purple, after Ian Gillian left the post in 73' then left the band in 76' and formed Whitsnake.
What does coverdale and led zep had in common? Jimmy page. Dave coverdale and Jimmy page colaborated in the late 90's with Coverdale/page
What does Coverdale, Lee Roth, Tommy Lee and Robin Crosby had in common?
Tawny Kitaen a former model who dates rockstar in the 80's she also appear on the Whitesnake Music video of Here i go again Link to the whitesnake video www.ifilm.com/ifilmdetail/2714825?htv=12

everytime i listen to led zep and 'stairway to heaven' plays, i can't help but stop whatever i'm doing and "get the led out" bikehunter, what makes you say that? how did it bring out the worst of you? my teacher once told us the rumor that stairway to heaven played backwards brought out bad messages. so during a large class, she demonstrated time reversal of signals using a DSP, and they couldn't make out any. that's what she said. but i guess a lot of people have confirmed otherwise btw i read once that robert plant claimed that if he could change something in the past, he wouldn't have made the song stairway to heaven
