the album for tribute in lieue of one of the greatest bands in filipino history by virtue of their songs that clearly emulate melancholy of filipino sociality and way of living and politics, as well as revolutionizing the Chuck Taylor sneaker revival among filipino teens that time, is more of like a magnet in more ways than one (siguro, that's how i look at it) because it attracted every top musicians of today earning them a spot in the creation of the album. it presents today's hottest and respected bands and a mixture of icons as well (RicoJ, FrancisM) i particularly liked the covers from orange and lemons (huwag kang matakot) sugarfree (tikman) 6cyclemind (alapaap) brownman revival (maling akala) and the anthemic tune of Pare Ko renditioned by sponge cola. even RicoJ's tip of "el bimbo" sounded like it had balls of dynamite! all bands did a great job in delivering their own rendition of the E-Heads classic songs. several booboos though i found, kitchie nadal (schwiiiinnnggg) covering "ligaya" is more like...i don't know how to describe it, parang di bagay. "ligaya" was supposed to be a song of someone desperate enough in his endeavor whatever it is, and kitchie nadal's like sounding like sultry and sexy while covering it (sabagay, kitchie is the BOMB, hehehe) but it didn't reflect good in the song though, i thought and south border's "with a smile" version sort of became like an RnB track to add more frustrations, i'm totally surprised no one covered the official barkada anthem "minsan" and they didn't include it. gnar...that's my all time E-Heads song fave. anyways, may it remain that way, untangled ;D
nevertheless, the E-Head's tribute album is worth your un-pirated money . may i say a collector's item in the future, too. a must have for the die hard E-Heads fan!
rating...? maybe like 4 out of the usual highest 5
whew, just like old times, my first album review in a long time (used to do it for chips before) please pardon me if i missed a point worth writing ;D peace!
