The performance of the engine on the new Hilux is superb, great power, great response. It's awfully high tech, though, and I have this feeling that if anything goes wrong with it you're pretty much stuck with going back to the dealer for service, which is not so much fun. The beauty of the old 3L engine is its simplicity, parts are basic and any decent mechanic can work on it.
The new one also seems too plush for me, like you wouldn't want to get in it if you have mud or wet on you. Too many 4X4s are like that these days, wish they'd make stripped down models for people who actually use them as 4X4s. I mean, who needs or wants leather seats and carpeting in a 4X4?

nice ln106 xfire!!! the best 4x4 truck!! might be the last... it will be hard for car manufacturers to make an independent front suspension last as long as solid axles. oh well, i guess car brands have to cater to the bigger public. then againm we could always do a solid axle swap.. 199offroadhouse. hahaha

Anyway, am content with the 33x10.5x15 Simex Jungle Trekkers on my 1.3li Zuki Samurai, 33x12.5x15 Dunlop Grantrek on my 2.2li Diesel turbocharged Mazda powered Wrangler Jeep w an 8000pounder Milie Marker winch (my bike hauler jeep here in the island of Mindoro<PARADISO!!!>, my '94 Gli Corolla with the classic Minoura Bike Rack atop (circa '91)- the urban bike hauler. '07 Mazda 3 1.6V for the wifey and my cross trainers- '89 KDX 200 SR and "93 KX 250, see my mind is Green!!! But the one i cant live without- my super commuter Dio 1 50cc, does 8 days of urban riding on a hundred pesos of regular gasoline! Hey, all of my other rigs run on Mobil 1's so, yes, i do feed the Dio the cheapest gas ;D All the 4wheeled rigs have decent audio, because i live and breathe music! But i'd much rather see you all atop your bikes, because they're our Delilahs, and we're all Samsons when on them, yeah ridehaaarrd!

the new strada = car with a suspension lift!(groudzero owner ows one it sucked!!! aski him!) the new hilux = another car with a suspension lift and a 1KZ engine!(innova na malaki!) the new D-max= its a chevy colorado with an Isuzu 4jj1 engine and a turbocharger!(LOL) the new Ranger= Its built FORD TOUGH good thing they have 5yr extended warranties!

Love your fleet, though! Esp the Sorrento, my eX have one just like yours and believe me, maliksi talaga-cud really cover and return Nadal's lethal ground strokes, do try it one time (without the wifey, of course he he he!) A hilux with a 1KZ? whoa, dats d same motor on the local GX Prados, lipadlipad ka nun! Anyway, remember russel the maquiling devil who showed you the treacherous macban trail pass back in the mid 90's? He's my regular bike buddy since then and he frequents me here on the island and we go out and ride. he's upped the ante and blinged his skill to da next level(does 15footer flat concrete landings on his sinister hardtail ) and we'd be glad to witness what you do on ur old skul Foes! He he! sort of reunion ng mga old skulers, wag ka lang dadala mga blingers w no heart and skills ;DYeaaah, ridehaaarrd, drink harderrr!

HALA!.... wow russel MK ... killer freerider na! nyahahahaha.... i dont drive above 80kph anymore hehehehe...... Too fast Too angry ako eh! traktora na rides ko hahahahaha.... did bob sell the feroza i sold him? hahahahaha....... hmmm...... dating gawi? ride-kain-inom-ride-inom pa ulit? hehehehehe....... allegra.... hehehe.... same with jojo's strada... transmission locked... hehehe altho the strada has the most comfortable ride of all the new p-ups... unmatched comfort..... their 3.2 gls/glx is too powerful... if you can re-gear the diffs to roll on 35s or 37s, id bet the 3.2 strada wont even break a sweat...... (sumpungin lang tlga pyesa.... hehehe)

allegra: Yes sir, it is 8 years old already. Thanks for the compliment.
paulbaguio: I fabricated my own bed cover using steel frames and marine plywood. I wrapped it with waterproof leatherette. Regarding the bike mounts, I used my old Thule Roof racks which was for my old Nissan Terrano. I just did some modification on the clamping system.
