had my 1992 corolla stock engine swapped with a 4AGE 20v. it was done at FUSION R at e.rodriguez (near happy sauna hehehe) by auto_xer (ferman lao). galing nito!

Go 3K!

if youre filthy rich money-wise and time-wise, install a turbo on the GZE. no lag, no dull spots. imho, there are more parts available here for the 16V than the 20V and there are more options with regard to the setup. for the daily driver, a stock 20v (either silver top or blacktop) will do. for street racing, autoX and drag, i'd go for the high horse 4AGE- with boost or normally aspirated, take a pick. by the way, mura kay Take...

go for 20 valves kahit ST ok na however you might wanna upgrade your clutch dahil based on mah experience medyo mahina pick up nang mga ST, pero tipid ang engine na to I can come up with a 11km/1 lit. dati sa AE92 ko daily driver Libis avenger sa weekends hehehehehhe oooh those are the days ;D happy hunting

usually with the 20V 4AGE's, loss of power is due to wrong wiring system. the engine runs but its just not up to its full potential. imho, difference between black top and silver top can be felt on high range rpms. black top feels lighter and the redline is higher. so if your ST has a hard time picking up, it must be the wiring- given the motor is well tuned-up. i doubt its the clutch. if it is, you'll feel it sliding. the high engine rpm cant transfer the power to the wheels.

So much for the 20's why not try 4afte? I heard its good for everyday drivin pero prepare money for the tuning

|
Post by BrusKO on Feb 6, 2006 22:48:18 GMT 8
why not a 4afte? coz number one, toyota never came out with it. the 4AF motors only came as 4AF, 4AFE, and 4AFHE. the "F" in the engine name means economized performance and has a narrow-angle valve design. the engine and its internals aren't designed for it. you can of course have the plumbing fabricated to slap in a turbo but you'll end up tearing the engine apart in the long run (no pun intended with the time and money you'll be spending to make a turboed 4AF, you're better off with a 4AGE- 20v or 16v...

good to know theres lot of toyota fans out here, i had my 95 corona fitted a 3sge 3rd gen engine at aerohead mechanix located somewhere at 10th ave. caloocan, its a bit pricey but its worth it, the power is very far from my stock engine 125ps vs 180ps, you can call them and look for alex, the owner and the mechanic, their no. is 3232171
