i like illustrator better than Corel. I don't know why most shops here in Baguio uses Corel, most haven't even heard of Illustrator. Is it the same in Manila? Illustrator is more versatile, Corel is more homey.

swabe illustrator. never used corel. never felt i had to. as for bilibidboy, practice. i got my start in illustrator by converting raster logos into vectors. i eventually got the hang of using it.

just simply try to play with it and try what every tool does and how u can apply it with what you want to do. the best teacher is really experience and time itself. if you are already familiar with vector based softwares, im sure you wouldnt have a hard time learning it... and if you are already familiar with adobe photoshop, you'll be right at home with illustrator. sarap gamitin nyan. ive worked with a german audio company before and the main software they use for their products is illustrator, mainly because they need the designs and layout to be precise... 0.0125 inch accuracy. thats german ISO. grabe. pero with illustrator, super dali lang to meet their standards. my advice is, try playing with it first, use CS2 na so you would get the full updated tools already. start out like joes, copying and converting raster shapes into vector. try downloading various random logos on the net and try copying it with illustrator, trying out the different tools as you go on. im sure after a month of serious learning you would be good at it right away. tip # 2: look around the net for online tutorials, tips, tricks, and try to work around it. Enrolling yourself in a school would only teach you the basics, im sure a person like you would already know or have an idea since you are very much familiar with vectors, so just waste the money somewhere else (like bike parts) my 10cents

i also do use corel only for making objects and designs in pure vector art.the only problem is when exporting and printing your designs.you have to set properly the ICC profiles to match with your printer and working color profile in photoshop to have accuracy in color.
thats why a lot of people prefer illustrator for compatibility in color swatches when working in hand with adobe photoshop.especially those into professional printing business.
i agree with blister, time and experince is the best tutor....
