Recently, around an hour ago prior to this post, my other hard disk made some weird noise... eeeeeeennnggg click! over and over with about 30sec interval each. This is the first time and i got scared since it contains very important files. its a SeaGate 80gb 7200rpm SATA with 8gb free. what might be causing this? currently i disconnected the drive to prevent further damages. i'm scared...

Ey janix backup your files asap but don't panic yet, later on maybe ;D ;D he he he joke, I hope that sound is not that loud, In my experience, I also hear that sound on my HD it is also a seagate 7200rpm but its 250gb IDE, after 2 weeks upon hearing that sound, Its a bye bye to my files and to my HD too. I suggest backup first before anything else happens.

u sure its the harddrive brad? harddrives like that have miniature heads that do not produce that much of a noise.
could be a CD stuck in your optical drive, a diskette, or fans not working properly.
but better yet, back your files up immediately before diagnosing everything.

Check your cable first, if you frequently disconnect and reconnect, use a new cable to see if the weird sound will go, otherwise get a new HDD and transfer everything ASAP.
