boss viper...there are many factors to consider with the IE closes without warning, can be a virus, can be trojan (backdoor), or the biggest possibility would be there's a pop up blocker software running in your system, if the latter's the most unlikely you suspect, just try disabling the popup blocker just in case because sometimes they close windows that aren't popups but that appear to be popups, and sometimes it suck big time. and i agree with sabretooth, mozilla is one of the best. and i would also recommend downloading these: www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/-this software will eliminate all the unecessary "elements" in your pc, removes all trojans, spywares, etc. very useful if you may ask me. www.finjan.com/- one of the best but overlooked free firewall software in the planet, blocks anything malicious and you can set it customized with whatever settings you want. may i also add to have a stronger antivirus (the likes of AVG, norton, mcafee, trend, etc.) so as to be safer. happy riding and surfing ;D

IE has many security loopholes that makes it prone to page hijacking, which could be why it closes on you. Microsoft tries to fix those by inviting you to make automatic updates (set your settings to automatic; each time you go online it checks if you have the latest update). Some people swear that if you do this religiously you won't have problems. Me, i've since given up on IE and switched to Firefox.
