For the PC using on-board tools in Microsoft Windows: Run Disk Cleanup under Accessories-System Tools to remove all unnecessary files. Then run Disk Defragmenter, also under Accessories-System Tools Do this at least once a month For browser maintenance...PCs w/ Internet Explorer: Open Tools-Internet options in your browser window In the Temporary Internet Files section, click "Delete Files" Click OK after it runs... Do this once a week if you're a heavy surfer Any more tips anyone? for any platform?

Try to clean also the dust off the computer.... seriously, for microsuck windows: 1. Delete all temporary files and folders 2. Run Disk Cleanup 3. Run ScanDisk 4. Clean up the Desktop * unnecesary icons 5. Empty the "My Documents" folder •remove all unnecessary files and folders •empty the recycle bin 6. Get all critical Windows Updates 7. Run Anti-Virus Scan 8. Run Disk Defragmenter 9....... total clean up.... FORMAT it.... for linux: all i do is just check the logs, no defragmentaion/scandisk or whatsoever he he he.... yeah linux rulez....

I've heard a lot about computer maintenance, you guys are all right, but still there is one thing I should mention that is: Treat your computer like its a part of your family. I still have my Pentium III 733mhz PC,it was bought a long time ago, it was never been formatted. I care for my things, likewise for my bike. Also another tip, if you're surfing the web (a lot) better download a spyware remover, what would I recommend you guys is that you search for SPYWARE BLASTER ver 3.3 on any search engine, download it, don't worry for the cost because it's free (thank you smart developers). Install it and follow the isntructions. Just keep on updating the protection in the updates tab and your P.C. is safe from harm

Truly microsoft is kinda on deep waters right now. And the good thing is there are alternatives like Mac. So if one won't work, try the other one

Truly microsoft is kinda on deep waters right now. And the good thing is there are alternatives like Mac. So if one won't work, try the other one Easier said than done brad, Macs are pricey...you can just easily replace your computer system with this I'm more familiar with PC but Macs have bugs too. Well not that common compared with PC. My wife have a pink iMac G3 and I used to have a Dell GX250 before, with adequate virus protection, licensed softwares ;D and regular patches and updates from Microsoft....I dont have problems till I passed the unit to my "tatay", heard it still chugs along just fine. As for my wife's G3 this things has some serious issues, specially the clunky cd drive...guess she's due for a new unit.

Under the AMD brand there are several processors ie Athlon, Duron, Sempron, A64 etc. Celeron is a processor model from Intel. Its the budget version of the Pentium 4.

i find this interesting ..this clean slate how does it work? www.fortres.com/products/cleanslate.htmsir tolits, here is the website for clean slate. Basically it makes all your pc operations into transactions which can be commited or rolled back. Similar to Databases. Imagine you or somebody accidentally deleted something in your computer.. unless you will commit the operation the files will not be deleted. This applies to virii, worms, trojans, spyware etc... but you can specify folders where you can save/modify files like your my documents folder.

I'm on linux too (office and at home) so far I can only use winzip and a couple of apps on it.. I wish I can play my favorite Clancy Games too. heh heh ;D

when working in an ad agency you could see things others could not..... we all use MACs in the office except the accounts people.... all ads and colaterals are done with a mac even print ads for PCs are done in a MAC..... that's why bill gates made windows 'coz he copied the interface of MACs!!!!!!!!
