don`t own one though but i have tried playing one of this in an electronic store here in Japan...and oww boy! i was amaze with this thing! very handy and has a good graphics for its size. sounds are high quality on games or even while watching a movie(a friend of mine has one and i tried watching a movie...). ;D very good while traveling..saw some Japanese commuters here watching a UMD movie in a PSP and playing games with it... but i think that`s not applicable in the Philippines while commuting... holdup prone! hehehe! you can also watch any movie, just convert first it to MP4 which plays on a PSP(Ipod also... ;D) a good buy for its price, especially the Giga pack. it cost for about a \30,000(for the Giga pack which has a 1 Gig Memory Stick Pro Duo)...roughly PHP13,200 but i think the worst part are buying the game cartridges and the UMD... i think they are a little bit pricey.. hope this will help.. goodluck!

The reason why PS, PS2 (and XBox) is very popular in Pinas is the availability of "un-genuine" game copies. Price of original is around 3k pesos .... compare it to the alternative of 100pesos. So even if the console itself is expensive.... it is worth it because of "cheap" games.
With that said..... will it happen to PSP?

Well, in Greenhills, they download games to your memory stick for P500. PSP is cool! I've played it and got addicted right away. Cool graphics and games. But when I got hooked into biking, I've lost my interest in PSP and instead concentrated on upgrading our bicycles.

Yes PSP is somehow addictive !!! I got mine from the US i think it cost around 20K last year but pirated UMD's are not available you should invest on a MS-Pro Duo which will cost you 6K for 1 GB
You can buy PSP games @ Data Blitz sa Park Square 1 they have many titles and mayroon din available na Movies.
The minimum requirement for the games which can be saved sa MS is 512 MB there is also a shop in Mega sa may computer shops offerring downloaded games @ 500 Php try getting the GT4 maganda ang graphics.

i was comparing it with the ipod video which could only play music and video/photos but has a big capacity... the PSP could play video/photo, music, games and it can surf the web using wifi but the capacity is 2gig max!!!!! SO!!!!!
i just got mine!!!! php19T with 10 downloadable games, 1 gig memory stick!!!! and it keeps me busy!!!!
plus i downlowded bike videos kaso yung converted ko (for MAC) just plays 10 min 'coz its a shareware... i'm still looking at aconverted which converts the whole movie!!!!
the screen/graphics is great and the music and photos to!!!!!!!
i'm now trying to get another memory stick for my tons of music!!!!!! parang di kakasya!!!!!!!

Are you guys saying all it takes is a MS and you're past the protection already? If so, then... Wow! This early? It took a while with previous versions. Or did you mean you get charged legally for every download? If I actually still liked video games, I'd probably wait until the first bootlegs come out before considering a new machine. But as it is, I've lost interest in games a long long time ago.

the system of the PSP should be 1.5 and you get to have an emulator for the UMD and play games from the memory stick but you don't have the option of the web browser and other newer games on the UMD... i upgraded mine to a system 2.6 so i could browes the web but i could not play any more games downloaded from the memory stick!!!!! kaya bili ng UMD games which is mahal pa!!!!

Interesting.....
PSP 1000G cost about 32,000 yen here. plus buying additional memory that would be the same price as Alien's.
And the manual is English! Basti, I suggest ask Alien where he got his PSP.

I would suggest not buying one, it will be only good at first, I sold mine after 5 months only, good games are far and few in between(not to mention expensive).
although it's a portable multimedia powerhouse, battery life will kill it, since it's rather short.
UMDs are expensive too, and most of the games are @#$%, then there's the good games, unfortunately, even the great games are short, even for beginners.
PSP got good reviews from videogame sites, but actual owners got tired of it from the start. me and a few friends would hold testament to that.
unless you're a PS2/Sony Playstation fanboy, get it, but if you're just gonna get it for the sake of having it? I wouldn't recommend it.
you'd be only excited for the first few months, after a couple of months time, it gets bland after that.

for the record, many PSP owners I know still won't accept that they made a wrong decision in buying the PSP, most of them don't even use it for games anymore. they still won't give the PSP up, saying the same things here, that games can be loaded from the memory stick....which is really beside the point of having a powerfull handheld for playing mediocre games.
Denial of making a mistake is really hard, especially when a lot of money is involved.....
Php14k is no walk in the park. that money should buy you a good fork..... ;D ;D ;D

This thing can get you anywhere. Considering most of us here are mobile, I cant use my d@mn phone here...

If you are a gamer at heart, I dont think you would lose interest that easily. I have been playing portables and game consoles since I was a kid. I have owned almost every kind: game and watch, gameboy classic, family computer, super nintendo, gameboy color, gameboy advance sp, xbox to name a few. I dont think there's a downside esp. for me because after I'm done playing, I could pass it as an heirloom to my kids. ;D ;D ;D Its our form of bonding when we play video games...and that my friend is priceless! Peace out!! Good games for PSP: Ridge racer, Untold Legends, Wipeout Pure

gamer, yeah, gamer....I may be counted as a hardcore gamer.....also had every console there is, even those that flopped.... yeah, I'm also guilty of buying worthless consoles....hehehe......sega saturn....even had a GP32 (to those who know) a wonder swan, virtual boy......I still even play NES games....well, on my PC anyway.... but then again, my kid is only 2 years old....a gameboy might fit him much better....to throw around.... yes, for a hardcore gamer, it's worth it...... but really, admit it, many of us are guilty of buying these things becuase it's the "IN" in the videogames market......even if the Nintendo DS is rated more higher than the PSP..... unfortunately.....I'm still saving for a PS3........ another expensive "want" heheheheh

I'm still saving for a PS3........ another expensive "want" heheheheh you dont like the xbox 360 Xbox 360 vs. Playstation 3: A Battle for the Ages, or A One Punch Knockout?Last update: 01/15/2006 Submitted by Baranovskiy, Alex The release of the PS3 will unleash the most epic battle between competitors in video game history. Like a big title fight, fans are already criticizing one system or the other, and predicting the outcome. Each system has its own advantages, and up until this week I though it was a pretty even battle. The announcement of the possibility of the Blu-Ray drive coming to the 360 delivered a cold punch to Sony’s dream machine. Still, Sony’s device continues to have lots of support, and keeps things pretty even. With both systems running neck to neck, it is probably time for an early analysis of the situation. Currently, the 360 has one serious advantage: extremely powerful media capabilities. The 360 does it all: play games online and off, play movies and music, and arrange all of this in to a neat little Windows Media Center Edition package. With no games or exact capabilities announced for the PS3, the 360 is defiantly at an advantage in this “Cold War of Video Games”. Just like the Cold War, the tensions continued to rise when Microsoft announced that Halo 3 would NOT counter the PS3’s launch. With the success of the Halo games, Halo 3 being released the day PS3 is seemed like a perfect strategy. When Bill Gates recently announced that this wouldn’t be the case, Sony took a breath of relaxation. With no killer apps on the 360, the PS3 can now attack the 360’s media crazy ass with some really strong launch titles, and some nice media capabilities. Yes, it seems that this tense war takes twists and turns every week. Microsoft may have shot itself in the foot by canceling the Halo 3 release on PS3-day but came right back with the announcement of the possible add-on technology the 360 is capable of. From how I see it, the PS3’s time is now. Just like Microsoft, Sony must begin an all out information assault, and announce some new key features about the PS3. With so little being announced since last E3, many fans seem to have forgotten about Sony’s machine. Some announced titles and features will go a long way to build suspense and excitement for the PS3. One thing is for sure: this rivalry is far from over, and much electricity shall be shed before it is all said and done.
