I believe bmx hubs use a different spacing (110mm) from mtb (135mm), so it will not fit (that's assuming your hi-ten frame is an mtb)...

yep - any XC HT frame will do, especially if you want to keep the cost down... for starters, consider- - your old HT frame (if you upgraded to FS) - or a friend's old HT frame (if HE upgraded hehe) - crmo would be ideal (for a more compliant ride), but alloy frames will do just fine - wheelset, tires, drivetrain, brake, etc choices are up to you

thanks, i already have a gt agressor frame and some few parts i bought 2nd hand, and plan on a free rider setup.
what i meant is it possible to go buy parts straight for a ss, or do i have to buy a whole multi gear sprocket and crank set then convert it?

Hi RB
You can get yourself a Da Bomb converter kit - it comes with an 18 or 16T cog, tensioner and spacers to convert an 8 or 9-speed cassette hub into singlespeed.
Since you plan to use it as a free rider, you can take any crankset, remove the granny, then replace the big ring with a bashguard...
good luck!
