i think the safety of your bike depends on the neighborhood you are in. just don't forget to cover the bike. kawawa naman yung bike especially if it rains.

Eikichi,
Single speed bikes require the same "love" as multi-geared bikes. If you are willing to chain your mulit-geared bike to the water meter, you can do it to your future SS.
Love 'em then ride 'em.

Is rigid fork generally better for single-speeding? I noticed kasi the force from the pedal to the ground is more 'solid' with rigid than with suspension fork (without lockout). try pulling up on the bars technique instead of pushing down on them when climbing. I pull for several reasons. 1) there is no power lost to front shock compressing. 2) to generate more power. by using arm and back muscles to pull up on the bars... in combination to using your legs and body weight to push down on the pedals, you will produce more torque. very similar to "dead lifts" for those of you who lift weights. 3) this also generates more traction at the rear wheel. pushing down on the bars reduces rear traction when you're standing up. wider bars are better when using this technique. also, as the trail gets steeper you'll have to change the center of gravity and move closer to the front end. practice and you'll be surprised how steep of a hill you can climb.

king - that's a sweet bike. too nice to be used as a commuter. you must be taking it inside with you. I can't imagine locking it up outside when you're at work. i need to find a steel frame with semi-horizontal dropouts like yours. it's nice not needing a tensioner.

nice bikes raven and goodboy. what type of riding are you using them for?
raven - just looking at the tires, possibly some urban riding or jumping?
goodboy - the gearing looks too tall for xc trails, at least for me it is. I roll the trails with 36x20.
I'm a big proponent of using a half link and finding a "magic" gear to go tensionerless. What gear combinations have you tried?

That's a sweeeeet custom cruiser! Did you design the paint scheme yourself? I wish I could free-hand graphics, but I wasn't born with that skill. The rims are trick and must have been difficult to find. You must have a nice collection of bikes.
