i had always wanted to ride the island and was able to get that chance during Easter. I planned my route using Google earth, Singapore's road map, and my trusty ole gps. did it on my own which was a pleasant new experience. it was like a fantastic minoura ride with great views and seamless asphalt. rig used was an AM, not exactly the right tool for the job but it didn't bother me. most of the photos were taken while riding, i took shots of street signs as proof that i got there. these are mostly snapshots. all i had to guide me during the ride was my gps, no maps and no "excuse me uncle which way to..." i originally planned to reach east coast (lower right portion on the map of Singapore but didn't want to miss Easter mass so there'll be a repeat. here's the route: (i started off at boon keng, that's were I live) the singapore flyer (similar to london's millenium eye) jalan buroh look ma, no chewing gum! are we there yet? a sign pointing to jurong bird park, a must see attraction barely any vehicles, Happy Easter! i miss sultanas! are we there yet?! cemetery far off from the knoll lonely highway chicken coop tagak it's this way! if your into fish keeping like i was before, you'll know that singapore breeds one of the best arouanas here in southeast asia i'm sitting behind his wheel, layo na napadyak ko 'no?! sembawang wet market. i love wet markets because i'm kuripot, and they come few in Singapore had lunch here, parang turo-turo fresh produce, everything imported, even the water we drink college or university, didn't caught the name HDB (mass housing, i live in an HDB myself) mosque LRT station cycle/walk path i took this photo for skarhed thanks for looking!

Owen, you have been gone a long time pards. Got you Fat Tire stickers from Portland, from the bike shop where I rented a bike. It reminded me of your handle.
Will let you know when we will be in SG again. I was hoping next week but my meetings got re-routed to Bangkok (but I am not complaining!)

Owen, great pics of your solo adventure. There's no better way to get to know the local people and places, then to do a ride such as this. Even better when there's no traffic. Looks like Easter is the best time to visit Sing.
I miss riding with you and discovering new places (new for me). I too look forward to your photos essays.
What was the total kms of your loop?

Paul, comeback won't be anytime soon so you better look for a job here so we can plot a Singapore to Malaysia road ride, hehehe. ikaw rin Tofi!
brad Arnel, looking forward to ride with you soon!
Kukai, ditch the beer, vodka na lang, hehehe, i hope our schedules align so we can meet up when you're here.
sir Eric, so sorry we didn't meet-up last time you were here, I was on active nanny duty, hehehe, hope to see you soon here
wandie, glad you approved of the snapshots, I was lucky the skies were overcast that day and it can do miracles for a point-and-shooter like me. i was pedalling while i took them so props to canon for their IS control.
papa enzo, boss meyric, kitakits!
so japs where would you rather be singapore or hongkong? siyempre pinas!
sir jan, will wait for you, let's ride with the PadyakPinoySg guys when you get here
bo, it's exactly what motivated me to do this ride, to check out what's out there, a side of the island that even locals would have no idea of. i didn't pay attention to my mileage but would be more or less as long as the ride we did going to the racetrack in maarat a few years back. swing by when you visit home!

owen, what's the predominant religion there? do they observe easter too? btw, nice for you to be back on line again...nice pics. i just shared that discussion with my wife as soon as i read it sir tolits, it's a scattered lot as far as we can gauge it: Muslims, Buddhists, Sikh, Christians, Catholics, Protestants and something that i just found out that was a category of faith: Free Thinkers. The holy week is observed with Good Friday as a non-working holiday. Interesting to note, I was riding in the city and a small Gothic Church (ala San Sebastian Church) caught my attention, it was so small it reminded me of what the Avanza was to an Innova. I meant no disrespect there as I also am a Catholic and i'm using the whole point as an analogy that our faith is a minority in the island. Eto matinde, my son was watching a kid's channel last Good Friday when a voice-over said "have a joyous Good Friday". you chuckled and i saw it thanks for the warm welcome, I tripped and I guess I'm up again. nga pala sir, Marc's my riding buddy here, our friend that went to the emirates and worked in the Air Force, remember him?

nice to know pards that people of various religious orientations can live peacefully with each other...i wonder what is singapore's secret.
uy marc! that sonamagun...please show us a pic of him the next time...he used to send me pics when he was still in kuwait via email...he called me on my cell the last time he was here using an unfamiliar number but i usually leave my cell in my room during our regular office meetings kaya di ko nasagot...when i finally able to text the number it was already his wife who answered..tell him im sorry for that.
one more thing..paki kamusta yung hydration pack ko..alam nya na yun. hehehe!
