THe trails? it would depend on your power.
Ive tried 9 speed and single speed on trails. Both have the same effect on me.
Pushing on the uphill. hehehehehe

Atleast max pushing an SS bike uphill is a bit easier
Anyway to answer your question any bike will work for urban....actual "urban assault" /playing is a different thing....many here who regularly ride urban has specialized setup well scaled down actually...
anyway if its trail worthy you can ride it.

aaaha ha ha ha, nice one max to add to Patrick's post. SS seems to be the fad nowadays and with a 32 x 16 gearing, this can go up trails. for sure you can do use this in the city. but yes, you might want to change gearing if you're inclined to do "urban assault". if you're thinking of something like trials.....you might need a smaller chainring

yeah SS rules...hehehe
try to mix up some gearing ratio till you find the most suited for you...specially on the trails...different urban assaulter uses different gearing ratios..but most of the trials rider uses 20t/19t
ey Pat I'm on SS already, 22T/20T gearing for now...still looking for the 19...saw a sora and kinda like it...but I think I need help for PVC pipe measurements...hehehe sorry OT

I have a stainless steel pipe you can get some , measurement is all up to you just keep your chainline straight. Order a 19T if you want...(surly) Guaranteed to be a great bling for your ss for urban assaults. However reminder lang : urban assaults is meant more to be about the rider and the man-made environment and less about the bike.

@ Pat where can I buy the 19-tooth free wheel? I'm currently using an 18-tooth by da bomb. I think a 19-tooth cog may help ease my set up.
Also, i'm using da bomb SS converter. How do I tweak the chainline? Are there any spacers available locally? I cant seem to find one.
TIA

docalvin go to Ross and order ...it takes 2-3 weeks to arrive.
I make my own spacers but yes there are 4mm spacers available. (used for 7 speed cassettes)

Really? You make your spacers? Can you show me how? ;P
I think I need to tweak my chainline a bit cuz if my rigid tensioner (Da Bomb) isn't set right, the chain falls off under heavy pedalling.

the first problem there is if your Dabomb converter (if you are using the new one) is ramped. Get the Surly SS cog then lets make you the spacers.
I still have several feet of stainless tube I can share it. Your other option is to get the 4mm spacers at P80ish each and play with the no of spacers on each side.

The ss pipe is not that heavy since its thin. But pvc will do if you like blue with your parts hehe
