have been hibernating due to the recent rains pre ;D kamusta practice natin sa wheelies and manuals? Mukhang babalik ako sa gtavalanche frame ko...though I like the Kona for its shorter seat tube height...may malaking problema...I've already ripped two of my shorts...palagi kasi sumasabit dun sa seat post clamp Eto wala pang improvements Pero ngayong bibili na ako nang shorter stem eh siguro mas madali na akong makapag-wheelie. Try mo mag cycling shorts hehehe

di ko tinatanggal saddle ko...actually ayaw ko pure trials setup...i just want to learn some of the techniques na pwede gamitin sa trails yung tipong style ni Dylan Tremblay ba yon sa Second Coming video (c/o Yong and Max, btw) ;D

Dito kasi sa 'min bako bako na kalsada But the good thing is, dahil sa practice for wheelie I have improved my pivoting Kanina I biked with my wife in-front of Echanted Kingdom. I practiced pivoting up and down the sidewalks...ang sarap parang consistent na ;D I also tried doing 360 pivots going down the sidewalks, oks na din...dati after a front wheel 180 pivot stalled na ako...but this time ol da way na...yeheeeyyy ;D Practice lang ng practice Kona

Jeeves mukhang maganda ang new year mo ah, one thing na di nagbago is hanggang trackstand pa rin ako, kulang kasi sa practice eh, I think I'll upgrade some parts like the bars, pedals and buy some gloves. Anyway happy new year to all

speaking about gloves....i'll try to post a thread at the tech section...andaling mapunit ng gloves when you use it for trials

Any improvements lately?? Due to practicin' every weekend (during rides lang with smooth pave road) I can say I can now be consistent to execute a 10meter wheelie on my gt...if this can be considered as something to be proud of..he..he.. Here's some things that I have discovered: 1. Lean back - yes lean back, I have observed that when you do a wheelie with your chest near the handlebar...your tendency is to pedal faster 'coz the front wheel and your body weight will push the front of the bike down. If you lean back, your body weight will pull the front up. 2. Pedal smoothly in a consistent cadence. 3. Don't engage the front brake. Kasi napansin ko, when you apply the front brake during a wheelie...naapektuhan ang side to side balance mo. You tend to pull the handlebar to the left. 4. Point your knees outwards at the beginning of the wheelie. Then adjust mo n lang left or right for side to side balance. 5. Do it on inclines. Naalala mo yung paved road in front of the gulaman store? I figured yun ang magandang incline to practice the wheelie. You can do it going down or up, it doesn't matter...mas ok kesa practice on flatland. 6. Learn to modulate the rear brake during wheelie. You use this to prevent falling backwards. Eto ang pinakamahirap i-praktis...we tend to overdo the rear brake and end-up bangin' the front tire to the ground. 7. Learn stop 'n go pedalling for speed and front to back balance control. Medyo advance move na 'to but you will learn it thru practice. Pag medyo mabilis na takbo ng bike and I tend to fall backward...my legs stops to pedal for a split second and I combine a slight rear braking with this. Remember all this nagagawa ko pa lang at an average of 10 to 15 meters distance Sarap ng feeling pag nakapag-wheelie ka na ng mahaba...parang nananaginip ka ng gising ;D ;D ;D

Hehehe
Anyway, its a great news to hear this with my trials buddy, dami mo na sigurong fans ngayon ;D

Fans Wala...I try to practice it na walang tao My gear ratio...2nd gear front, 4th gear sa rear. This is what i use also sa road and trail rides

Post by jibber on Jan 25, 2005 18:28:34 GMT 8
Hmmmm...actually thru feeling lang...pag feel mo parang naka-lean back ka na and you're about to fall backwards then it's time to momentarily stop pedaling and very slightly engage the rear brake Then resume pedalling...parang nagsisimula uli ako ngayon, kasi dati 30 to 35 psi ang tire pressure gamit ko kaya mas maganda mag-wheelie. Ngayon gamit ko 25psi tire pressure na lang...for comfort...kaso pag nag-wheelie ako I tend to lose the balance...yung tire kasi parang tumitiklop but just the same...practice lang talaga kailangan Napansin mo...tayong dalawa lang nag-uusap dito???

Kasi kapag nagsisimula akong mag wheelie, parang mahirap makaupo? TRIALS LANG NG TRIALS
|
|
|
Post by jibber on Jan 26, 2005 8:53:24 GMT 8
I practice using my xc setup...ayoko kasi pure trials setup na sobrang baba ang upuan So how high depends on you...mas matangkad ka yata sa akin eh so probably xc seat height mo is higher In wheelies...it is easier to lift the front when your seat height is high but you leave little room for your butt to adjust for balance. Pag mababa naman upuan...parang ang hirap i-lift ang front wheel...but once it's up...you can play around with your butt...no pun intended...for balance ;D

I find easier when my seat is high and the tire pressure is right.

Yung gear ratio ko is the smallest chainring - 5th cog. Sarap mag-wheelie
|
|
|
Post by jibber on Feb 1, 2005 6:56:30 GMT 8
Pre...yung smallest chainring and 4th or 5th cog na suggestion ko dati is good for very slow, walking pace na practice. You can progress to the gear ratio...mid chainring and 4th cog...pero dapat medyo mabilis ang takbo mo dito...cguro mga 10 to 15kph...

Kona pre...and others trying to learn the wheelie and manual just like me Discovered lately one reason why the front is just so heavy to pull up When I replaced my front brake from v's to disks...I found the front was about 2x easier to pullup...sa v-brakes ko dati...I fail almost 30% of my attempts. This is because v-brakes have this nasty habit of mis-alignment or sometimes locking to the rim. And once the brake shoes sticks to the rim...pulling the front up for a wheelie takes so much effort. So I suggest the following to improve your practice: 1. If you can...convert to disk brakes...if you can find avids that's great...but deores are also good with some tweaking to improve its braking performance. You wouldn't want to install rear disk brakes though...if you'll settle for deores only...you'd be better off with v-rear brakes if you still want to do those pivoting and backhopping stuffs. But again, if you can have avids...that's great for front and back 2. Have your wheel trued to perfection Practice lang ng practice ;D

Good tip Jeevers Medyo naghalo ang pag-aaral ko at ang pagpractice ng wheelies, kaya di ako makapagmonitor sa forum Madali na sa akin ang v-brakes, kaya lang palaging bumabagsak yung front tire ko, siguro yung placement lang ng buttoms ko ang i-adjust ko para ma-maintain yung center of gravity...play more with my butt ;D ;D ;D

manuals are easy to do. the most important thing before you do anything else is to learn to dance with ur bike. i mean get the what so called BALANCE POINT OR CENTER OF GRAVITY. once na alam mo na un. start by lugdeging ur bike. get used to a manual position firsts. kung wheelie naman.. iba din technique dun. learn the right gears ng bike, (WAG SOBRANG LITE) kasi pag lite masyado, aangat nga harap pero di mo mamaintain ung cadence. 1st thing first... balance! master mo muna dapat track stand.

I've been trying to locate my center of gravity by doing wheelies on a downhill slope (not much of a drop) and I've been doing well, until my pneumonia intervened with my trials program and here I am aching to ride again Frorider your correct with the gear thing and it took me a while to find the right gear ratio
