Ony,
The very 1st intense M1 ( 1st in the Philippines/shaun palmer inspired ) that you saw from James was mine. I'm a gonzo-crazy fan of Palmer. I raced it twice in Grotto, bacolod, ilo-ilo and Danao before selling it to James. It was imported by Velo City. James got the most out of it coz hes the better rider. Jing had used it in his best last rides in maarat ( The WALL was still nasty DH run! )

In DANAO Japan were already using M1 intense strip to metal,
while the philippine dh team, using the government issue taiwan single pivot fastrax dh hehehehehehehehehe
what an advantage hehheehhe. saw arjuna with it in cartimar that was eons ago,
Wendell barba told me that they have a cousin (robert) who used to race mountain bikes XC and DH
So fast even Him, JR and Joey cannot beat in their local races,
their cousin is now into drugs.
talent wasted, too bad,
but good for them, hehehehehehhehee.

way back in late 90s wangbu was the man to beat, no one came close to him. tinawag cyang "mr. seeding man" sa asian races nya (power n skills). in early 2000 mike borja's time, ive known him for his endurance, ginawa nyang xc and dh. and now c joey barba naman small but terrible. (smooth n stamina). its like comparing jeremy mcgrath, ricky carmicheal n james stewart..............

hmmm..... i like reading this classic stories... when yetiman was riding intense, i dont know if he still remember nung naglalaway ako sa intense nya, sabi nya " sir sakyan mo... subukan mo" then a few pedal..ikot lang tapat ng velo.. then naulit nung kami lang ni hermie sa velo.. hehehehe!! for me.. its an honor to have a nite ride with wangbu in makati.. during the echo mike days.. si wangbu nagturo sa akin mag nose wheelie... lupit nun!!! kahit RST ko na mechanical na nose wheelei nya... kalat nga lang sa unang try... i still remember when mike borja was riding for trixx, ( trixxter at boxxer ) and the classic.. to race with arjuna at the first ever DH in grotto... langya un linait ung GU ko na kinain... malay ko ba na pang XC un.. hehehe
classics story... sana one day, a collection of picture and story will be done.. for the new DHer will know the roots.. at kanino magmamano... hehehe... pamano master erwin..!!!

rocketman, azonic multi-link redundant frame were used by the well compensated-"this is where are taxes go" Pro-pinoy-DHers that was supplied by Velo. I know they just bought the Fastrax ( personal and for retail ) in taiwan when they were sent to compete. Then a lot came in through Crane bikeshop.( remember? ) The Fastrax were awesome bikes to me! Joseph Oncada was the best handling DHer during those days. No competition. Jing beat him by fluidity. Medyo fancy si Wangbu nun. Jing eats berms and jumps for breakfast! Everyday MX eh. And Mike Borja is still works in progress....I used to train DH with Jing before and maybe he doesn't mind if i reveal his secret..........he doesn't use a saddle and seatpost on all his mt.bikes! DH or XC! As in tanggal or wala! He learned to control and pedal all the way even uphill epic rides! We even joined the "survival boso-boso xc race" him and cousin Ernie Leongson without saddles! Imagine how legs and arms just controls everything. If Sam Hill stands all way, they've been doing that power padyak since 4 bar linkage was still on the drawing board! He saw the technique in a Jap Dher/MXer training in Japan in one of their MX races. Well it worked for him. As what Bender sez " who needs a saddle on DH races???"

Coilerblue, Maybe u are referring to Alan Yeti Lawill 9/sea oil. I'm more good looking than that bastard! ;D ( I love you brad! ) But i also work for a petrol co., Petron Dealer ako. I don't frequent trixx before as much as Alan did, pero i love that shop! Me and Ricky ( sabak ) co-owned Velo City before, now si george na lang. I own Haooh bikeshop now.... Bias ako sa Yeti, since i owned a lot of them and Velo is a dealer. But they are not the best bikes, they just have character! Diba YETI TRIBE!?!

O yes yetiman I think I can attest to this. Remember when I invited all the taytay boys to ride in maarat? Jing climbed the wall straight up using your old Yeti full DH bike, no granny gear. That was really remarkable!

the balete shop was opened after the kamuning branch closed for trixx, reason cguro cuz masyado malapit sa decades chino roces, Sibil tomas morato at sa brassiero sa kamuning yung shop! ...... too many bad influences for roger jr.! ( hahahahaha... si james!) kaya nilipat sa bahay sa balete!
