if i'm not wrong its in wawa, montalban... the road perpendicular to aling norma's store... just go up, and up, and up... HTH the climb up is the best thing if you find yourself drowsing-off climbing the wall of maarat... ;D

after san mateo, the next town is montalban rizal, now called rodriguez rizal, 15-30mins from san mateo, (depending sunday traffic)
from highway after the iglesia ni kristo church turn right going to foot of the trail
there's a statue of the virgin mary on the top,
used to be the dh "playground" until recently it's open again.
the trail is steep, winding going down,
with rock gardens on the middle portion of the trail
no porters here.

san mateo is 45 min 1 hr to min from makati via C5 highway if no traffic add another 15 to 30 min for the next town montalban.
makati>pasig> marikina>san mateo>rodriquez (montalban) rizal
yes push your own bike, and also to read the trail going up.
unless there's a race.
peachy, there's an old thread with pics "return to grotto dh tail" page 2

thanks rocketman. but how far is that from, say makati? so u basically have to push your bike up right? Its about 1-hour drive from Makati brad. Yes you have to push your bike up but its an easy trek. You may also take your pick-up to go up through Montalban/wawa. Thats another 30 minutes drive from grotto. Good luck on your ride! ;D
