Tactics to lower down your bp: 1. Stop smoking 6. Low caffeine 2. Reduce weight 7. Sufficient rest 3. Exercise 8. Do not oversleep 4. Low protein 5. Low salt
Yes Foods: apples, avocado, bananas, broccoli, fish, grapes, oats, orange juice, water No Foods : high salt, medium salt, reduce saturated fat, reduce protein
Recently I discovered that I hv hypertension (140/100) borderline-moderate. The dr advised lifestyle modification.

Lately for about two weeks now, whenever I stand up from a sitting position, say for example to open a door, answer a phone, I get dizzy to the point that I feel like blacking out- maybe for about 3-5 seconds. What gives?

OS?! ;D
dizziness after standing from a sitting position where your legs are fully bent may be caused by the sudden rush of blood in our blood stream. don't quite me on this though.
i have experienced this during my high school CAT. my officer told me that after squatting from a lecture, we should stand up slowly to prevent the blood from rushing in our blood stream, thus preventing the dizzy feeling.

orthostatic hypotension Symptoms, which generally occur after sudden standing, include dizziness, lightheadedness, headache, blurred or dimmed vision (possibly to the point of momentary blindness), generalized (or extremity) numbness/tingling and fainting. They are consequences of insufficient blood pressure and cerebral perfusion (blood supply). - wikipedia i feel this thing too sometimes.

Vertigo is when your vision start rolling even with eyes closed. Its common when you stay late several days in a row. Sometimes you won't feel it when at certain position lying down, but the rollling comes back after moving. Hypertension is another thing...symptoms could be the same but more deadly.

Vertigo is a feeling of light headedness... it is caused by poor circulation of blood in the inner ear. If left untreated, it may lead to hearing loss ( or Menier's Disease). There are 3 stages... if you fee anything, go to your ENT already... 1. Dizziness 2. Tinitus (buzzing in the ear) 3. Hearing loss Hypertension is something to do with blood din but in the heart... the arteries are blocked so the flow of blood in the heart is insuffecient.. something like that... For Vertigo... SERC 16 works... (worked for me) For Hypertension... (Eprosartan) TEVETEN (my mom uses this) shempre... doctors knows best padin... ask them before taking anything...

If you still have orthostatic hypertension (sudden movement: from sitting to standing position) try to wait maybe 5 seconds before you stand up so that your body can change the blood flow in your arteries and veins. the cause of it is the gravity force a.k.a. G-force (believe it or not the g-force in our body that pull the blood is around .75-1 Gs) that pull your blood from head down to your extremities (where the most storage of blood) when your changing your position emmediately that resulting in : DIZZINESS, LOW BP.
Hope, this info can help the other riders

If hypertension attack, try to eat bawang (garlic) b'coz according to medical studies, garlic can lessen or lower the hypertension by preventing a blood cloth to block/slow the movement of blood on the arteries and perhaps prevent you from heart attack or CVA.
tama po ba mga Doctor? =)
