actually, is injury from running inevitable? if comparing with riding a bicycle, yes, there is a probability of higher percentage of getting injured coz your legs/feet will carry your weight every time you land on each step.most especially on the knees ,ankles and achilles tendon.regardless of what running form you have.after running his ist marathon (42k) in NY,Armstrong said it was the hardest race (physically) he had done.some people are more prone to injury than others coz of our natural genetics.goodluck on the running and see you on the road!

Call for Runners!
Mabuhay!
Join the advocacy run for the passage into law of the Renewable Energy Bill (REB) to be led by Noelle Wenceslao and Karina Doyondon, the all-Pinay team to summit Mt. Everest this year, together with other Filipino athletes, celebrities and supporters of the RE Bill on January 22,2007 (Monday). The run starts at 5am, MRT North EDSA.
This an advocacy 20-kilometer run carrying a symbolic key from MRT North EDSA to the Philippine Senate . A giant ballot box with a message "Boto ng Bayan para sa RE Bill" with over 350,000 signatures for the REB at the finish line. The first 100 runners will be given a free shirt and filter masks to wear during the run.
Intrested runners may choose to start at any MRT station they wish. The run would appear like relay so non-competitive runners may choose a station to station run (riding the MRT to continuing with the last leg of the run is option)
Intrested runners may contact Ms. Ma-anne Roque at 9207923/26/31 or email pare_ni_juan@yahoo.com for pre-registration byJanuary 19 (Friday). Leave your name, contact number and specify your pledge run (starting MRT station).
This advocacy run is in support for clean air and the demand for an urgent bill certfication of the Renewable Energy Bill (supporting clean energy resources like solar, wind, geothermal, biomass, hydro and ocean). January 22 is Congress' scheduled resumption of session. Adjournment of session is on February 9.
Join us and let government know that renewable energy is our clean alternative power of the future!
WWF's PowerSwitch! Scenario study has shown that our country is endowed with vast renewable energy potential: 4,000 MW for geothermal, 2,308 MW for small hydro, 235 MW for biomass and 7,404 MW for wind. Increasing the share of renewable energy will help cut CO2 emissions and local pollution, and thereby protect people and nature from the impacts of dangerous climate change. It will also reduce the country's dependence on imported fossil fuels, saving the country US$ 2.9 billion over a 10-year period.
This activity is supported by: RE Coalition WWF-Philippines Youth for Sustainable Development Alliance Brotherhood of Destiny Greenpeace Kabalai Municipal Government of Angono Rizal Young Artists Fellowship for the Environment P.A.R.E. ni Juan ....and many more!
Please forward this email to your family and friends. Thank you very much

Not anymore. Shifted to MTB because of too much running. It came to a point that my knees made creaking sounds (lumalagitik) when I walked kasi.
Got hooked on running because it was required at UP Mountaineers. Did my 15km induction run in 1hr:28min (max allowed: 1hr:40min). My dream back then was to do the 5-MINUTE MILE. Never got to do it.

bike-less at the moment i'm back to running as part of the getting-fit regimen. i believe my osteo-arthiritic (sp?) knee had somehow recovered from the more than one year break from running and can be good for the next month or so of "bike interregnum" ;D to share an answer on gadgets question (how to run?) yes a good running shoes is one, proper stretching also help avoid injury and for me, being aware of avoiding trail (or road) debris, is another one. it funny but i had already fell twice being tripped on a stone is that what you call a runner's semplang

correct me if im wrong guys, but i'd like to think that running and/or jogging may actually improve your biking ......."power"? like endurance and increase in output during those sprints. i used to jog all the time but im practically a bike addict now, and when i jogged for the first time in years, my strides actually sucked! big time! i have to assume that jogging and biking uses different muscle groups in your legs although it feels like the same.
to the bike enthusiast, biking is probably enough. you get the benefits of working out your entire body as well as your lungs. but for the racer types, im guessing they could benefit from jogging as well.
just my two cents! what do you guys think? cheers and ride safe!!

I run everyday...... or every other day as my schedule permits coz i have an occasional provincial trips with my work and try to run in the area as well, before i use to be 225lbs now drop to 191lbs i am 5'10''ft... running seems to help me on my weight reduction "and trim down my beer belly" and also it must go hand-in-hand with a healthy not getting super hungry diet. Running is a "resitensya builder" hehehehe... been absent with biking for about 6 months and and focus on my diet and running. I love running.... Like forrest gump....

This is true (proven with two TK riders)...but you can also do in biking with trainer. By doing intervals plus 2 -3 hour gym workout. I know lots of xc and regular runner suffering with knee problem. This because of impact during running specially if you have heavy upper body. Lots of them become MTB or road rider .
