Thats why I am in favor of body fat analysis more then BMI. I lost weight and increased my ratio of muscle to weight from 55% to 75% . Power to weight ratio is key to climbing. By the way rule of thumb you can only lose 2 to3 pounds a week max. more then that you are also losing muscle and bone density.

I dunno yet i'll probably check with the first weighing scale that I see... anyway, where can I check my body fat %? I thnk they have a device for that.. where do I find those? I just want to check if I'm losing body fat and not muscle.

i lost almost 20 lbs in less than 2 months (from 189 lbs to 170 lbs) and here's what i did: i ate only fruits and veggies with minimal rice and got whole wheat breads, fresh salads as an alternative for the past 2 months... i exercised a lot (running, mild weights for toning, sit up variations, and of course...BIKING ;D)... i cut out on alcohol (never drank like 1 1/2 mos.) now just 2 bottles occasionally twice or thrice a month... i never ate anything fatty, junk foods, no pork, beef, just chicken and fish (with the chickern being bare w/o the skin) i stayed away from salty and sweet foods... and the most important thing i had during the whole duration...DISCIPLINE AND DETERMINATION i myself am surprised with the outcome actually, but i guess discipline and determination did the trick, without it everything is wasted now i gained like 2-3 pounds more coz i splurge on eating binges every weekends especially after a hard ride ;D, but i did know i can cut it again whenever i can, thats why i have my beloved BIKE so if i can do it, everybody else here can ;D ;D ;D

I lost weight because of hospitalization, but when I started biking a few years ago with my simple mall bike, I kinda shaved off some fats on the cheeks, the belly and with some help of exercise I was able to tone up my body...
Unfortunately now I have to do everything in reverse eat hard to gain weight and do some weight gaining exercise and I guess I have to refrain from biking cause I think it takes away a lot of my stored energy or fat...

years ago when i used to go to the gym one of the instructors said weight is not an indication of how much fat you've lost from exercising, kasi you could be gaining muscle mass, so your weight may stay the same. i gained 2lbs since i started biking 10 months ago, i don't think that's fat but muscle mass (inner voice: "you're in denial!"). ;D
better to measure your body fat directly. in the gym they use a caliper of some sort to pinch your body in different areas to measure your fat there. i don't know where else this kind of measurement is available though...
