Played badminton last night with with yong, fullspeed, blackmagic, Mrsmcvarki & some other guys.. enjoy! I noticed during what I consider the peak of my mountainbiking (a few years ago ....matagal na yon , I played so much badminton , sumasakit na tuhod ko....pero lakas ng resistensya. Tapos I tried swimming naman ...pero parang puro upper body strength ang nadevelop(at marami akong nainom na tubig sa swimming pool...kaya wag nalang ;D) Kayo what other activities do you do during the week to prepare you for that weekend trail ......

I try to go to the gym once or twice a week but don't do as much leg workout as I used too...lalos na pagnagtapat sa Friday ang workout ko. I try to save my legs for the ride the next day.
I try to run in the treadmill too (I know, I know...it's not the same but it saves my lungs from pollution)...mas nakakalusaw kasi ng taba ito eh, imo.
Backpacking...but the last time I did that was November last year...I should pick it up again....
Also, SMBeeing.... I guess you guys know what that is ;D ;D ;D

mcvarki,
i know i should probably be doing that hehehe. Used to play tennis but it just got....boring and a hassle compared to mtb. its so much easier and convenient to just hop on my hardtail and roadbike every now and then between trail rides...
also, do some dumbbell exercises and calesthenics between rides for upper body toning.
would like to revive my table-tennis tho? ;D

Gulli, that's true compared to mtbiking, other activities seem mundane & boring after a while . trails rule!!!! ;D oo nga boyok , swimming na lang and pwede ka na mag triathlon. or xterra.......pero wag ka magpaturo sa akin. .lahat ng sinalihan ko na events either last out of the water ako or 2nd to last..

My regret is i should have done this during my younger days (same with MTB and Mounrtain Climbing); not too late though, only for fitness and personal satisfaction. i hope you guys can try it too, para may kasabay mag train ;D boyok, i have friends who taught me how to improve my strokes, i can help you out with your swim. am not kidding, you can still learn it ;D by the way, i have 3 kids and have to squeeze my training in between luto and labada...buti na lang, summer na, wala ng review at homeworks mga bata...haaaay buhaaaaaay...inom na lang kaya tayo ;D ;D ;D

I lift weights pero circuit training lang po lighter weights more reps and little rest between sets. I still run every other day just did a 5k last week for the Terry Fox run . I swim once a week . Rock climbing and rappel once a month . I will be climbing Mt. Pulag on Holyweek for my conditioning on my April dates.

I do resistance training 3 times a week just to protect my bones. Specially back and side extension, leg press, squats, pull down, pull ups, hamstring curl, arm curl, abdominal, inclined press. Also do trainer or hit the trail 2 to 3 hours every other day.

Matt - as you witnessed last night, me and Blackmagic's badminton work out is really intense. Well, ganyan talaga when you want to get fit eh... we run a lot all over the court (kakahabol sa mga tira nyo) ... also we do a lot of bending (panay pulot ng shuttlecock) ... yun smash namin malakas din if you noticed (papunta nga lang sa kabilang court) ... and we really exercise our lungs (by continuous laughing) ... So my suggestion is - if you want a real work out, gayahin mo style namin ;D P.S. sorry sa lahat ng kinampihan ko ha...olats tayo

I used to play badminton at least 3 times a week. Ok na work-out, papawisan ka talaga, super fun pa!
Now I try to go to the boxing gym 3 times a week and do at least 5 rounds punch mitt inside the ring, 3 rounds with the punching bags, and 2 rounds skipping rope.
Kaya lang it's not as fun as badminton so yung dapat 3 times week, sometimes nagiging twice or once a week na lang. He he he ;D

Yup long -time glocker na ako. dehins naman kami nag compete.siya alam ko dati puro practice. Naka glock 17 lang ako pero may colt commander din pero type ko pa rin ang glock lalo na iyon bagong mariner version. Dati sa place nila sa new manila may firing range sa basement so that gives you an idea gaano kadalas siya mag-practice.

I do super heavy weight training, but I was planning to reduce my weight from 230 (present ) to only 180 pure ripped muscle, sa ngayon kasi Im very bulky 70% mass & 30% fat, I'm overweight at my height although I'm not fat pero sa height ko dapat 180 lang ako for healthier life.
