My CTS training video did not discuss anything about the single leg technique... that's why I don't know about it... Can you share the title of your CTS DVD training Video... dunno if it's on any cts video but the one-legged drill work is mentioned in spinervals competition 23.0 dvd. as some folks had mentioned, it's an exercise to improve pedalling technique, not a skill you'd perform on the trail ;D

Prolly no one won using flats, atleast the recent WC MTB, skills plus spd's is unbeatable. Spd's arent designed to make you better rider just make your pedalling more effecient. There are some things equipment are designed to take care. Your right skills really counts but in world cups, "skills only" wont cut it, equipment counts too. It is where everyone is unquestionably skilled and if you lag in any aspect you get left behind. In this case pedalling efficiency might cope up or even give an advantage to a rider.

;Di said dh! u not reading my post. XC i leave it to u sirs. this is world cup dh mtbike not world cup soccer! exhibit "A" ;Dwhy pipol u dont know Aussie dh rider SAM HILL? of team madcatz iron horse he's using easton cully flat pedals (see the cully signature on the pedal) 2005 first victory, World cup Schladming Austria by 8 seconds. second WC win in Pila, Italy victory by 6 seconds. *Sam hill has beaten riders using cleat pedals, now who is more ASTIIIG?. 2004: 2 nd Overall UCI World Cup Series 2004 3 rd 2004 UCI World Championships 2X Junior World Champion (2003 & 2004) 2X Australian National Champion 2004 US Open Champion do not under estimate flat pedals pipol. it useful when it it is wet and muddy, or maybe riding only under sunshine cruz ha! as i have said any pedal will do its the skill that counts. ;Dpipol lets not divide mtbikers! already too many: abs cbn/gma7, brief/boxxer shorts, pepsi/coke, colgate/closeup, ate vi/ate guy, michael v/ andrew e, Everyone has its own "riding style" go find yours! k? don't get easily influenced, know what is good for you and stick with it. dh rider chris kovarik also rides with flats.

i use clipless on my XC bike. but i prefer to use flats on my DH. coz you can easily bail out off your bike when something goes wrong. oh yes there will be a lot of improvement in your pedalling if you use cleats but you can match it using flats and improving your skills to. there are also cases of sudden release of cleats while dropping or flying which causes you to panic and eventually crash and sometimes unbalanced take off. but still it's your choice. i'm only saying that flats works for me betterer in DH and cleats for XC.
hey why is it nob ody invented clipless grips and clipless gloves?? so that your hands would stay stable in the bars? hehehe......

jong come here my child....ur gulo lolz.........
Clipless pedals are good trainers..... then again if ur legs are trained already n stick like supaglue to flat pedals....
i like to play and train on flats...... cuz i normally play n horse around on the trail a lot and sumtimes things dnt end up u expect them to be....lol like they said "easy eject" it saves lives...lol
I compete on clipless pedals... i actually own a pair of Exxus Clipless mtb shoe these are in prime condition as i ocassionally use them ..lol.... but during time trials clipless pedals give u the benefit of: more flight n tracking control, more pedal to muscle ratio......
disadvantage?... umm ever watched a crashtest with test dummies? LOL its like getting pinned to the steering wheel without the airbag but only with a 60pound bike at top speed?.....lol..
*id rather twist stuff than get it hammered off of me with a bike..... ejection saves lives! lol
.....did i just say erection? nyahahahahahhahah....peace

WAIT, why do they call it clipless pedal when in actual you clip in your shoe to the pedal?
is it platform or flatform or flats heheheheheheheheheheheh but in actual it is not flat it has a shoe grip pins hehehe
confuse na me.
as long a your pedalling action is round (bilog) ur fine.

You don't actually clip-in as clips in cycling refer to the "toe-clips" that you sometimes see attached to normal pedals. Clipless pedals have a mechanism that attach to a "cleat" in the shoes, not a "clip" therefore the term, clipless pedals.

nice question jamal...ahahah... we use to call 'em "SPDs" way back then it became "Clipless".............. its actually "Platforms" ..... everyone just calls it "Flats" fer short...kinda awkward to say "Flatform"... (F defect syndrome?)..... or "Plats" (P defect naman!...lolx AYASIB!)
right? ahihihihi......
