So after a drunk motorcyclist threatened me that he will punch me in the face while i was just minding my own business waiting for the traffic light to turn green, I decided to wear an action cam with me I think it's a good investment aside from the helmet and gloves. Would you carry one with you? I'd recommend to do the same

I have one, but I still need to have a helmet with mounting holes or a surface flat enough for the adhesive.
With vehicles constantly cutting infront of you every kilometer of the way without any form of signal its good to have one, just in case.

I have one and used it twice. but i'm still figuring out where to put it. i don't want it in my helmet since i'm looking back or on the side. i used a chestmount, the vid was shaky but okay. my fear was more of wearing out the chest mount elastics with sweat and exposure.

BTT: I've been wondering kung pwede ang phone? May nakita kasi akong chest at helmet mount. Gusto ko din ito para mavideo ko ng maayos mga rides ko.

pwede naman ang phone, but it does heat up a lot. not to mention it videos tend to eat a lot of memory, which the action cam can manage, not sure about the phone.

mine is always recording. To and from work. You'll never know what you catch in the video.

hijacking the thread.
what action cam will you recommend? i have an sjcam 4 + wifi. even with the battery saving mode (screen blacks out after about a minute), the battery lasts only 30 mins. although i do have 2 more spare batteries, changing it with a waterproof case is a hassle.
and no...i'm not buying gopro, haha.

buy a higher cap battery. 900mah lang ata yung oem, nakabili ako ng 1200mah. and NO to Gopro unless i win the lotto. BUT! i did get another action cam with better stabilization – Firefly 8SE cheaper than my SJCAM 5000+

For the chest strap, it does not suck up sweat that much (or maybe my route is not that sweat inducing ). Cam position at the chest is more stable than the helmet part. As for your choice of action cam, i'd recommend to use cams capable of doing 4k and with a decent FPS (30 fps is ok). There are plenty of action cams out in the market today, you also might want to consider buying used gopros

I think it was an isolated incident. There were MMDA traffic enforcer trainees around the intersection and that they were also amazed on what the rider did. dehins man lang nila sinita I'm thinking if you can also use dash cams instead of action cams. You just need to find a way to strap it to your bike or body

Don't dashcams require constant electical source? it has to be plugged either to the the car's USB or lighter port. it doesn't have it's own battery.

SJCAMs can also double as dashcams (check the manual) and they come with lots of mounts. I think these are the best bang-for-the-buck choice these days, as they've been doing action cams for a while now and use Sony sensors.
Best to put it on the helmet, tho. Chest mounts are cheap these days but are a lot more shaky than mounting on a helmet, you'll also f up your cam and chest if you crash (lost a gopro in 3Skulls once and got broken ribs because of a chesty). Handlebar or frame mounts are convenient but have the worst vibration and have more potential for theft or damage.
And btw, once they see that cam on your head, they probably won't bother you. I've gone on so many rides with my camera off and motorists seem to be nicer to me once they see the camera on top of my helmet.

I can confirm by experience that mounting on a helmet helps with stabilization. AND... if other road users (and peds too) see it on your helmet, they'll surely behave near you or within sight of your cam. hehehe...
commuting: helmet mount trail rides: chest mount

currently using sj5000x. stabilization is good but takes about 20% give or take from fov. used to mount on helmet but want to see my handlebars on video... (you know, ala blager blager.) and helmet-mount videos kinda make it look like you are "floating". chest-mounted videos have that "riding" feel. maybe it's just me though... mounted it on a chesty but with backpack, then chesty... strap mummy... now it is mounted on a backpack clip. battery lasts for about 1 hour... or a little less than that. on 1080p @60fps.

I noticed lack of details on the 1080p resolution. It kinda makes it hard to notice things such as plate number. So far, 4k resolution is the best option but the massive file size can be a problem. Next thing I'll test is the 2.7k and then the FPS aspect of the videos
