Grabe! Ibang experience. Dati akala ko oks na road lang. Iba rin pala talaga sa trails. Hehe. Salamat sa mga tao dito sa forum. Malaking tulong kayo guys! Natapos ko naman yung 30k. Pero until now medyo lupaypay pa. Siguradong uulit ako next year! Lumaki confidence ko sa trails after nung race. More practice lang at aral. i suggest you do it per segment. lalu na’t tag init at kakaayos palang ng trails e ok sya pag praktisan. natuwa ako sa area ng kawayan-sapa kasi naayos ng husto, to the point na kahit basa at malambot ay ok ang lapat ng lupa. nun ko lang nabuo ang parteng yun hehe. ang kalaban nalang sa mga ganitong panahon e man-made trail damage like motor at mga nagskid sa trail. both of which contribute to rut formation, the usual sections that are open anytime are blue, ka vergel, some portion of pulang lupa, basekamp, roxas, chapel-nursery, green, black. glades, i guess it depends on the progress of construction. for added challenge you might want to take casile climb in pintong bukawe. the camelbak route is also a good one, di ko lang kaya balikan unless me kasama akong kabisado ruta kasi medyo maraming pa-Y.

I personally know a couple of guys who chose to leave in disgust after the restart. I hope next year (and the KOTM this May) will be hassle-free.

Top 10 results are out... tbh, I still cannot comprehend how these guys finish the 40K in less than 2hrs!

Top 10 results are out... tbh, I still cannot comprehend how these guys finish the 40K in less than 2hrs! ~ 20kph ave in timberland? 😁🤔 😱 yes and i think that’s just a result of pedaling effort on the average. imagine the ascents in blue harder, sapa, black d, various switchbacks, nursery, and ka vergel to name a few. it’s hard to say these guys do those climbs sitting as they won’t generating much speed at that position. they could be partially standing (hovering over saddle) while pedaling or standing all the way on straight climbs. that’s just the climbs. in instances where they drop climbing speed <20kph how much do they do on dh sections to compensate for the loss or even gain more... blue dh sections, pineda, black d. most if not all top finishers are using hardtails with 100m travel, majority of which are 29er. Wheel size doesn’t have much impact imo, but the short travel HT is a real advantage to climbs specially with a really low bar relative to saddle. what’s mind boggling here is how dh sections are attacked (black in particular) with a high seatpost (no dropper) and a low handlebar on a steep head angle short travel fork! i’ve seen one climb the last switchbacks of black d during the recon and the movement was crazy AF! butt hovering over high saddle from start of the climb to the top. given it was just a recon, i must say that wasn’t even race effort! d@mn! question still remains of where and how dafuq on earth do they do that!? saddle time + gym time counts a lot but still unimaginable for a mid-30 office guy like me lol

This year, all the top 10 guys in the age cats up to 40 years old and up are all under 2 hours. I find this interesting since, in the 2016 version, the top 10's in the age cats were 1:50 to 2:20. The 2017 one was a mudfest so it's harder to compare.
Ariana placed 11th overall this year for all categories, both men and women.

Agree. Mas maganda nga yung by portion lang..

Anyway overall masaya yung race.
