respectus your video shows a pedal kick. You can pedal kick- J hop to a higher ground or you can pedal kick - drop. If you look closely the guy on the video started with his weaker leg the left foot in front then he ended up with his right foot(he's lead foot) in front after he goes up the curb. Try observing Ryan Leech videos. You can also pedal kick 1/4 pedal stroke using only your lead foot.
Bunny hop and J-hop are always confusing. Everybody has his own views. On my part, a bunny hop is hopping,clearing and ending up on the same ground or at the same level. Whereas a J-hop is hoping to a higher ground, like a step up, hence your bike makes an inverted J motion.

hehe....sorry alien scream I'm just an enthusiast anymore. I've tried learning trials before but it has a very steep learning curve...And it takes a lot of time to be really really good...but they say its very very rewarding...
