storm, sorry if u thought i was referring to you when i said "are u true ....". i meant it in a general way. yes of course we all wanna improve and push our own personal limit. i'm just saying that all the advice here, u have to put them in their context. a beginner will have some advice too... and that's probably not as useful to the way u ride. the same goes to a pro telling a beginner how it's done. that's all i'm saying. kinda like the way it is in school, sometimes just because u have a 10 doctorate degree doesn't mean u are a good professor.... a teacher needs to know the skills of their student and go from there. and i'm not trying to offend bud also... so dnt go there. take it easy. yes it's all about fun i totally completely agree. btw, 60 deg pataas? that's steep. btw, that's not me, but i just wanted to make an obvious example that in a case like that.... do NOT lean forward. he3

nice pix, peachy ;D
redneb, am flattered that you agree w/ some of the things i said...thanks!
pero ganun naman talaga, do what's comfortable given a certain set of conditions...kaya mahirap gumawa ng mga hard & fast rules sa techniques...eka nga, a thousand ways to skin a cat ;D

i think i know peachy na....................heheheheheehe. ;D
hihihihihihihi
The pic would depict that he looks like he is leaning back but he is actually reading the inscription on the handlebar......lolz...... ;D
Tecnhically peachy is centering his weight to the bike, mukhang lean back pero naka center pa rin ang torso at weight nya sa bike, WHY? look at the angle of the bike(entry point)............saan dapat pumunta? tama di ba? you can also literally center pero lilipad ka dapat. tama ba assesment ko peachy?.........

from peachy's pic, i would call it lowering your center of gravity and keeping your weight back over the wheel for that approach...either that or the guy has an itch on his ass and he's trying to relieve it w/ his wheel...

that's what i meant. relative to the bike or saddle we are leaning back... effectively centering ourselves as oppose to being front-biased which wouldn't be good in this case. depending on how steep the grade is di ba. kung say the grade is like baguio road grade but off road of course i won't be doing that i would be leaning forward a bit in an aggressive forward form. it's not really lowering your centre of gravity... of course it does that also at the same time but it's about centering your weight relatively to how your bike is pointed. if you are climbing a steep section you will do the opposite and move forward... effectively spreading/sharing your weight front and back w/o loosing traction sa back and the front still on the ground... yon like nambubuso form... or reading the handle bar's logo. he3 no i dnt know this guy. i've seen this part and it doesn't look THAT hard in person but they have actually closed it coz it's a semplang area. a few got a ride from the ambulance.... con-thingamajing-tion baga. there's this other rock face in cypress called cherry-bomb. i was on top of it and that thing was STEEP and doesn't even have a ramp like that to catch u at the end... and at least twice as high.... don't think u can roll it but my friend did it. amazing! it's rollable alright, but i wouldn't do it unless u push me off the side. ha3 that is NOT me. i wish. but i wouldn't ride a banshee.

Very good exchange guys. Master Redneb, for the usual guy riding an average trail bike (4" front and back), can you share tips also as to how low the saddle has to go from its normal xc seatpost height - during a DH blast? Can you give some tips master? I'm sure maraming bumabasa sa thread na ito dahil kahit sa yung mga dehins DH riders, each XC ride has a payback DH and all would want to blast it clean like a pro ;D Tenks man

seatpost height= 2" below the crotch, basta na ilalapat mo 2 paa mo sa lupa+2". For proper clearance as you move and rock your body above the bike. Bike Travel=4" front n rear pwede naman eh medyo tricky nga lang. Ok here it goes: Pag entry mo sa descent pick the cleanest line from your position to the bottom or as far as you can see. Stand up on your pedals but keep your upper body low and centered to the bike(Floating). For small hits like roots, ruts, small logs,Staircases, small boulders and unconcious riders sprawled in the middle of the trail. ;D just push your bike forward everytime it the bike feels like getting stuck(its called "Rocking"). For big hits like 12" logs, drops, lumps, jumps and anything that looks like it can stop you. Theres only one trick even with 4" fore n aft. Shift gear to 1:1 then float normally, now this time since u have bigger stuff to go through. You have to push down on your fork(pray it has enough rebound ;D)and suddenly pull your handlebars up and kick the pedal forward as hard as you can. Then as your rear tire hits the obstacle push forward therefore lunging you forward and clear(Hucking)of your obstacle..............amp haba nun sakit utak ko boi!................... Looks easy noh?...............all that stuff just floats outta my brain and into my nerves in 0.25seconds. Reaction time and finesse is must. Try d small hits muna till u feel indestructible na!........then 101% your gonna look for bigger stuff to roll-over..........They always do. was i any help to you brother?.......

Holy guacamole, during the descents yesterday, i kept thinking of what Master Redneb wrote. Put some weight on the front wheel for traction. That really did wonders for my ride yesterday. And also the thing with not applying too much brakes or none at all also did wonders. I never felt so confident descending in my life. Kudos to you Redneb for your pointers!!! BRAVO!!!

brothers.......trust me, i shall never put other ppl in harms way.....i teach very good cuz i had a gud teacher din. Just practice it. and remember if at first kumalat ka try again baka makuha mo na......1x...2x .....3x and the next thing you know parang instinct mo na yun pag descend.. Fear is the presence of something you have not conquered yet.......but in time you will as long as you have that willingness to try new stuff. ;D "Sabi ko an yung southbeach diet eh!.... its starting to affect my mind......aaarrrggghhh.

I want to ban REDNEB. Because of you I cant seem to get my body to work today ;D. My mind is still in Bataan descending the trails! Di ko malimutan yung kahapon. Parts where I usually get off my bike and walk down, I rode down my old fart of a bike in flying colors (at least by my standards hehe). Master Redneb, you should have heard us scream your name while descending. "RRRREEEEEEDDDDDNNNNNNEEEEBBBBBB" then let go of the brakes and RIDE. AWESOME!
Yung isang kasama namin si Kevin aka mouse takot na takot mag descend. He gets off the bike during descending terrain. He asked me what i ate that day. I never rode down descends that way daw. He said he used to hear my Vbrakes yelp like crazy when we go down before yet yesterday he heard none. Told him to check out your pointers Redneb. He was scared stiff daw after his spill yesterday.
BTW, I also tried the "Dont lean back too much" technique and it was great. I was more confident that way. Before, I used to lean back so much I could actually feel the tires scratch my butt hehe.

buddy kelan schedule nyo ng tagaytay?
sama mo naman ako, need to learn more re: descending and all that, i'm not kidding.
can't believe it man, you've gotten crazier than you were, and you outdid yourself again: by giving sensible rider advice.
