for me, displacing your weight is important, lalo na pag uphill, downhill, or when u meet a ditch. dapat balansiyado sa gitna (or almost gitna, basta stable) ng center of grav nung bike

one skill i am trying to learn these days: adjusting saddle height while seated! i dunno how many of you guys have mastered this, but someone told me this is useful when suddenly faced with a technical downhill that necessitates a low height for better control (daw). make ipit the saddle daw with your legs, then release lock, adjust height, tighten lock, without looking, much less stopping...

this sounds pretty dangerous to me. if you're faced with a sudden technical downhill the last thing you want is to grip your handlebar with one hand while trying to release the QR. better just stop, get off your bike, and lower the seatpost accordingly.

Dude, whats the rush? Suddenly faced meaning unexpected?
If you dont have a gravity droppper or similar device, dont pretend to have one...please stop and lower your saddle.
It sounds ADHD-ish hehe.

Honestly this is one skill(?) I wont even dare learning. I'm not sure even if this is skill or st..... oh well, I'll better keep that to myself. brad better reconsider doing this while trail riding. You not only endanger yourself but also those who are riding beside you as well as the one following you. one skill i am trying to learn these days: adjusting saddle height while seated! i dunno how many of you guys have mastered this, but someone told me this is useful when suddenly faced with a technical downhill that necessitates a low height for better control (daw). make ipit the saddle daw with your legs, then release lock, adjust height, tighten lock, without looking, much less stopping...

so am I..this is very dangerous. In races just learn how to ride without adjusting your seat. In a downhill area just go over your seat (like a squat position). In fun ride you can always stop and adjust your seat since no one will left you behind .

but of course, the point is not always to move your weight too far back whenever you're headed downwards. you don't want to be moving too far back such that your front wheel loses grip already. the point is really to keep your weight centered on the bike.

To enjoy trail riding, I guess the first skill that you have to learn is to ride a bike ;D of course you will have to walk your bike at technical sections that you cannot handle, but you can already ENJOY trail riding with your more skilled bike buddies. You will be slow at first because you will still have to familiarize yourself with certain situations. You will also have to learn how and when to shift and what gears you are comfortable with. You will have to walk or go around an obstacle (instead of hopping). But you can already start and enjoy trail riding when you already know how to ride a bike...just know your limits. It's not "nakakahiya" to walk your bike when you know you cannot handle the situation. IMHO.

ahihi. madalas ko gawin yan pero siyempre, i try to improve on my stamina and leg strength para di na bababa. anyway, i miss much of the thrill when walking. another skill to bring with IMHO is proper breathing technique... some people do not breathe when pushing the pedal while climbing... too dangerous... they might faint or eventually give up the ride coz of hypoventilation. i was like that once. pero gaya ng payo ng friend ko, relax lang and breathe, you'll get up there To enjoy trail riding, I guess the first skill that you have to learn is to ride a bike ;D of course you will have to walk your bike at technical sections that you cannot handle, but you can already ENJOY trail riding with you more skilled bike buddies.
