No definite routes. Sometimes C5 (the stretch between Tiendesitas to Riverbank), Marcos Highway, Boni-Buendia, Katipunan and also at the CCP-Macapagal Hi-way. Mostly it's the lone roadies that do that to me. Those in groups tend to mind their own business.

very educating thread. though i must say that some bikers are outwardly suplado when you meet them on the road/trail. be it roadies or "dirties".

Roadie or Mountainbiker it doesn't make any difference. what's important is that more and more people are getting into the sport. It's not just the roadies that are suplado but mountainbikers have their fair share of undesirables. Fact of the matter is there are just a lot of wannabes and elitists out there. I know that being suplado should be a no no but then again we just have to respect one another's attitude. So what if the guy on the other bike doesn't greet you? It just shows a lot about his character and not yours. There might be reasons as well. Maybe the guy is just too serios in his training. Let's respect that. As for whenever a roadie overtakes you while biking then let him. My God, I just laugh at these people. Its like pitting a ferrari with a honda CRV. Apples and oranges ang road and MTB. If a roadie tells you you're too slow on pavement, then invite them to bring their bikes on the trail and let's see what happens. I'm not roadie bashing or anything but our two sports are totally different.
Here's a story: While biking on my way out of my village on my 6.6 this guy on road bike pulls up beside me and looks at me. the following is our little coversation.
Roadie: Hey dude (how Conyo) looks like your going camping with all that water in your hydra pack?
Me: Good morning Bossing. Just need to be prepared.
Roadie: dude you plan to ride for the whole day? ( imagine I just met the guy)
Me: Nah maybe 3 hour ride lang.
Roadie: Overkill yata outfit mo? Wanna join us na lang for a spin? We're doing 100kms today. (Don't know where this guy studied....asking an all mountain rider to spin with racers) Tagaytay lang then maybe nasugbu.
Me: Sure brad, I'll join you as long as we pass reverse Palace going to tagaytay.
Roadie: (Shakes his head, shifts and says "sige next time na lang")
Guys Remember whether Roadie or mountainbiker......it's not the arrow that matters it's the INDIAN shooting the arrow that makes all the difference.

Seems like lots of issues about Pinoys and never change. The tradition continue to criticize our own people. I noticed this not only in biking also in work places. The jealousy and back stabbing fellow pinoys never go away. I worked with many different race background and if there people qualified for the job they hired them. The Pinoys they intend to make the process harder instead of being happy to see fellow pinoy. They have this attitude that doesn't like to see fellow Pinoy to succeed. Thats the reason the country never be successful because the people never get along compare to other countries. I seen lots of comments here that I never heard to fellow riders. Dont get me wrong I'm a Pinoy but I never seen this kind of altitude criticizing each other. For me seeing fellow pinoy riders either road or MTB I always happy, proud, greeted them, joke around and invite them to join our rides..
Just my 2 cents...

I love cycling. I ride both road and mtb and whatever else in between. I myself always greet riders whenever I encounter them be it on asphalt or dirt. I'd say fifty fifty would acknowledge me while the other half would just plain ignore me. I greet everyone nevertheless. I used to have this thing about racing anyone to the top of the hill, 'til one day I got spanked real bad. A friend who used to race when he was younger told me that "there will always be someone faster and stronger than you." After that, rides have been a lot more fun and stressfree, unless racing or something, but I haven't done that in ages either. Let's just ride and be merry! Greet everyone, if they ignore you, so what? Ride a hill with all your might! If somebody passes and drops you, so what? Most important thing is that you're out there doing what you like best--riding!

the truth is some of us are too gadang sensitive sometimes...we still lack in the area recognizing the individuality of a person...that each one is unique...we tend to limit the behavior of people to certain norm or standard...fact is that some people we might have already called "suplado" eh mahiyain lang pala etc...siguro konting unawa lang (except for that noel strong hahaha! joke ;D) ..sometimes we need to see beyond the shell..well, meron rin negative of course..very "friendly" yun pala predator hehehe! of course i have my own pet peeves but the truth is some behaviors of people that dont bother me do bother others..i just dont know why. re: jr's comment...yup, here you cannot argue with your boss the way maybe others do in their countries...lest you be sent to banaue to manage a mcdonalds branch there ;D

I think his intentions were to help you, he probably wanted to encourage you with a little push uphill. You see TdF riders getting a push from a team mechanic or even a spectator after a crash or wheel change... kinda the same thing here. I've received a push up a hill by a friend when I'm completely exhausted, I have also returned the favor to others... only with people I know, doing this with total strangers is a bit bold. You'll be surprised how a short push for a couple hundred meters can help you recover and reach the top of a long hill. Team tactics are not used much in mtb racing, therefore many of the concepts are alien to us (giving someone an extended push uphill would not be legal in a road race). In fact, during a mtb race one rider cannot help another rider, even to lend tools or a tube. doing so could get you disqualified. you must carry everything you need to finish a race. In road racing a team member may give up a wheel or his whole bike to another teammate, all perfectly legal. sir im not exausted that time sory I didnt mention on my post that time I was accompanied by trail rider we were riding in a slow face because we were chatting "nagulat lang ako ng bigla nya ako tinulak" anyway sorry for being one sided I guess that roadie was giving me a little favor from now on I will always bring a rope if ever na makita ko ulit siya I will ask him for a bike towing service ;D ;D ;D peace bros thanks for the reply!!

I am sorry but for me I'd rather stop than be pushed by another rider. It is not pride per se but I feel better being able to finish a ride "on my own strength and on my own way". I admire those who can "push" someone as indeed, they will not do that only for "yabang" purposes but indeed they feel that they can really do that as they have the strength. I will politely thank the guy who will offer a "push" but will gladly tell him that I am checking and monitoring my performance and hence, I do not need a "push" - I will accept food and water but not this way even how agonizing it is... Well, if it is OK for the rider being "pushed", it's fine...specially on practice or fun rides...that establishes good camaraderie...but the best way to "push" a rider is to give encouragement and tips or just be with him so he can finish the ride and be satisfied. yep thats what I felt too and besides mararamdaman mo naman if the man is boasting lang in the first place he never ask me if im needing a hand he just then pushed me saying "sige tulak na kita" he was pushing me already when he said that be the judge sir's or its just my pride I know my limitation even in my dreams ill never win to a roadie pero sige na nga baka sobrang bait lang talaga ng roadie na yun ;D

If he was pushing you just to show how "superior" his condition was, then he's an ss and gives roadies a bad reputation. Unfortunately, there are people like that.
