sir janix, tried to research to your question. i hope it helps. The balance of the teams are domestiques, the workers who usually spend their time and energy trying to help their team leader or setting up their sprinters. In all of sports, there may be no more unheralded job than that of the cycling domestique. Sometimes a domestique can taste glory, however. If a team leader knows that he has no shot to win in the overall race, he may free up a domestique to pursue an individual stage win. Although the peloton (or main pack of cyclists) often arrives at the finish line intact, it rarely stayed that way during the stage. Each individual race typically features numerous attacks, in which small groups of riders shoot out in front. The general idea of an attack is to build a big enough gap to hold off the peloton. That's not easy because the larger the group of riders, the faster they can go because they share the effort. How the peloton handles a break depends on who is in the group. If a rider who can threaten the overall leader is in a breakaway, the overall leader's teammates will usually work together at the front of the peloton to chase down the attack. If no overall threat is in the break, the peloton may be content to let them stay away, which gives domestiques chances to win stages. Because the first week of racing favors sprinters and, occasionally, breakaway riders, the leader's yellow jersey often ends up on the back of a rider who has no chance of winning the overall race. team leader? the water carrier? i doubt. domestiques help the team leader: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cycling_domestiquebut i don't know how many domestique should their be... Hincapie is Armstrong's domestique before Lance retired... correct me if i'm wrong
