Oist fafa d ba magaling ka mag swim? sali ka samin sa sept beginners tri , I have this feeling kaya mo mag top 5 or manalo Samahan kita sa swim , pero sa bike leg...errr mauna ka na, yoko sumabay sayo hehe gusto ko rin mag Tri. i have a wide experience in running, was a former 1500m runner, but frustrated. hehehe. only thing is swimming. Puro runners naman ang triathlete so you'll feel at home Get some swimming lessons quick It's really not hard as it looks and I think some of you guys are fitter than the average triathlete ( I belong dun sa below average It's all mental , once you finish 1 or 2 sprint traithlons , kahit wala training you can finish one

triple chainrings on a road bike should be avoided. they're heavier, they're slooooow, and you'll have to replace both the crankset, bottom bracket and possibly also the front derailleur if you want to upgrade in the future. if you think you might have trouble pushing road gears, get a cassette with the largest possible cog (27 or 28). 39x28, along with the lower weight and friction of a road bike will get you up any hill with a little effort, and you'll get used to it after a while. switchng to an 11-25 or 23 later on will be cheaper then a whole crankset. you can even get a compact crank (50x34) instead. that's pretty much made road triples obsolete.

a compact crank (50x34) instead. that's pretty much made road triples obsolete. I agree with king, all valid arguments. I have a compact double on my road bike combined with a 13-29 campy 10sp drivetrain. I know shimano makes a 27T cassette, maybe even larger. My shortest gear is 34:29 which is too low except for the steepest hills. The only time it's used will be at the end of long rides when my legs are noodles and the grade is 15% or steeper. 34:27 is low enough 99.9% of the time for me. If I were stronger, then a compact with a 12-25 would be just fine. When that hill seems a bit steep, just stand on the pedals and pull on the bars. you'll get to the summit soon enough.
