When i posted a pic of my bike , a few PinoyMTBiker brothers pm'd me asking me for advice about building a road bike
Unfotunatle, that was my first road bike din eh so I have little experience jan
BUT, eto lang napansin ko kaagad I didnt like road bikes before kasi the many I've borrowed did not feel comfortable. Masakit sakyan , and riding one for an hour parang bugbog pakiramdam
Yun pala Bike fit is the most important sa roadbike kasi you stay almost in one position most of the time di tulad sa mtb , daming bike handling A cheap bike that fits you is better than an expensive bike that doesnt. When I bought a roadbike that fit me , nagtataka ako wy I've never assembled a roadie earlier
2nd naman, kung mejo limited ang budget I would suggest , wag na bumili ng roadbike and just spend your budget on a light wheelset and a fork with lockout Mas masisiyahan kayo plus sanay na kayo sa geometry ng mtb And a HT mtb w/ a new light wheelset would be better than an 8t roadbike
Feel free to disagree

I agree. Fit is so much more important on a roadbike.

many roadies here in our place love to use rigid mtbs with slick tires and large chainrings. i wonder if they feel comfortable since many of them set their handle bars way lower than their seats.

handlebars lower than the seat may be uncomfortable but it contributes to the speed.. because of the AERODYNAMICS.. anyway if your used to it, you won't anymore feel uncomfy.

cheapest way for mtbkers to feel ala rodie is to invest in a light pair of wheels compaired to investing on a new road bike (well, if you have the luxury of spending for another bike..e di sila na mayaman..hehe...joke lang po!!!) even a slight change like replacing your knobbies with 1.2 or 1" slick tire for mtb is very much noticeable specially if your a seasoned mtb xc racer or even a weekend warrior...usually ginagawa ito nung mga nageensayo in preparation for an upcoming local xc event..kelangan kc matrain din yung smooth pedal stroke or cadence, pati na rin yung aerobic training like yung mga vo2 max, rpm, etc...at kagaya ko...pag may usapan kami ng tropa ko na magbabike kami puntang tagaytay at dapat naka 2.1 knobby tire e dinadaya ko...nagpapalit pa rin ako ng 1.25 or 1.38 at most, e di sila na malakas...hehe.
