Hi guys, I just signed up the other day. I have recently started working in Makati area and I realized that the best way to go to work is through bike commute. I live in Taguig so that's around 5km one-way distance. I have already inquired about parking in our building and read some threads here. I have also done the basic fitting through the link provided here. Apparently, I'm a noob to this. My last bike was when I was teenager pa and it was stolen. So basically I am getting my new bike for the first time in a while. My budget is around 25-30k. And willing ako sadyain ang shops anywhere in Metro Manila if need be.
Questions:
1. Is my budget sufficient for shops like lifecycle and btc? I want to avoid bootlegs sana and baka magoyo ako if I just come to random shops and show them my measurements.
2. If I window shop around Quiapo, Cartimar or any other area you can suggest, how do I spot a bootleg product?
The suggested frame size for me is 52, 44, 45.5. I don't mind kung brand new or second hand as long as pasok sa fit ko. Yes of course road bike po.
Maraming salamat!

there are some reputable shops within BGC, R.O.X. for example is a reputable shop. i'm pretty sure there are bikes there within your budget.
Cartimar, my go to shop is Ross or Cristy's. Quiapo is Kings and CycleArt.
how to spot a bootleg, as long as you buy from reputable shops, you don't have to worry about it.

First time ko mag-ikot ngayon around quiapo and good thing I have no money with me. Very tempting and addictive pala ito. Haha... Ill try cartimar ang prolly drop by bgc shops as well. Also, I might have another question. Will put it in a diff thread na lang kung saan related.

ingat sa quiapo, daming bootleg dyan, GT, Spez, Cannondale. built bikes and frames yan, i'm not even talking about components yet. isa sa mga widely copied is Truvativ, Chris King at FSA.
what you can do is list down the components of a built bike, then check online kung pareho. normally 'di nagkakalayo ang dollar or pound amount kapag converted sa peso. mas mura sa peso pero dehins naman bagsak presyo.

if you're going for the built bike, make sure to check the model and year it was released. What I would suggest is to scout bike shops and research the bike you want. I think your budget will meet a good built bike based on the price range i see posted on facebook pages of bike shops.
