I've been a bike commuter for a while and I've noticed that a lot of motorcycles and vehicles are in a hurry. Also, other bike commuters will try to race you. Seems like all are in a hurry. I just hate it when they don't follow the rules especially in a stoplight. To think that the have a license.

Yeah...then they would even "push" you to the sidewalk just to get into that patch of road only to be stuck. Then only a pedestrian or a cyclist can pass through.
Anyway on the race feel, I always treat stoplights like a BMX start gate, he he he. I'm a masher so heavy pedalling to gain momentum is my thing when the light turns green. Then I switch to spinning once I hit 25 or 30 kph, he he he he.

I like what you do with the stoplights hehe but I sometimes make sure to not cross the pedestrian lane but those rowdy/rushing motorcycles honk their horns if i'm blocking their way. (ang daming 'but') So it's clear now that I hate some of the motorcycle riders out there. hayyyy the bike commuter life

There's one more thing I on a stoplight, ha ha ha. I practice trackstands, then if I push the pedals to hard, I make a circle so I'll end up facing the stoplight again. For some reason this keeps motorcycles and other cyclists a little further back, ha ha ha.

Racing, depende yan, he he. On most, 95% of the time, I stay within my comfortable cadence and speed. On occassions that I get tired, I sometimes chase a stronger rider and draft behind him, but I do not overtake. If I overtake, normally is give the lead rider a rest and let him/her ride my draft if they choose to.
There are times though that some would take that move as a challenge, but I do stay within a comfortable cadence. I'm not the type who overtakes and just sprints far away.
On the rare occasions that I race, I got p!ssed off. I was once riding home, about a km from the house already. There was a bike commuter in front of me that I spotted 100 meters away, he's riding at around 20 kph, I was at 30 kph. When he heard me approaching, he pedalled hard. Now that felt like a challenge, he was riding his pace since I saw him and he suddenly felt like burning his muscles out of the blue? Sorry brad, but I just can't let that pass. 2 bunnyhops over speed bumps later and I'm already way ahead.
I'm the person who puts everything on a ride, give it all the gas I have. I don't race faster riders than me, if I'm poofed, then I'm poofed. That guy just, eherm.....

I practice stopping on stoplights if it's a major intersection (like in market market) or there's a lot of vehicles but if the road is like empty behind, left and right I can't resist the urge to pass (do not follow this) as per the racing with other riders, I define this as the silent competition hehe, a very intense battle of pride haha

necroing this thread.
ang lesson for the day...huwag makipagkarera sa kalsada, hi hi hi.

I haven't been practicing all that much aside from our last session. Anyway my bike should be complete by the end of this month and I have the next months free (I quit my job!). I'll make sure to practice.
