it has a lower/narrower profile so it's helps avoid rocks, roots, etc. i'm still waiting for mine because it's backordered and OEM bikes get first dibs. Around $250 here

It looks kick-ass but at the same time really really scary to use.

You can only remove so much metal before durability issues set in.
It's also more complex (mechanically)- note that there's an extra pivot point (the one which needs a star wrench). Looks more like innovation for innovation's sake. And of course, to get that ala-SRAM look.

A friend's XT shadow RD has already paid dividends - his bike was hit in the back side by a traffic light beating jeepney while crossing intersection. The jeepney's bumper was dented and the bike frame and rear wheels were slightly scratched - but not a scratch on the RD!

Jessie, I was holding the same item yesterday at my LBS. It's selling for HKD1,900.00 (about PHP10,200.00). Was so tempted to draw my wallet to pay for it but I thought it could be much more cheaper in Pinas. Anybody knows if available na dyan sa Manila? Randy, check with Jan...I got below item through the net (Germany)...available sa Pinas very soon...atat ako eh...
