just got the 2007 XTR dual control levers and brakeset installed on heckered last saturday except for the rotors (not yet arrived ) never tried it yet on the trails , 1st time upgrade and use of a dual control lever 1. its really light , compared to my old reliable deore shifter and brake levers 2. Braking power with an ease since its hydro 3. precise shifting , you can even shift 2 ~ 3 gears in one touch of the levers up/dn . 4. nice design good looks cons - doesnt have markers , you will not know which gear are you set . Pics and more reviews to follow once ive tested it on a muddy trail .

brad it sure is light cos you're comparing it to deore. doesnt it come anymore with the optical gear display?

i envy you! how much did you get for the system? is the rear disc really 5.5"/140mm in diameter?

Surprisingly, these candies are much much cheaper than it's older brother. Wonder why....
Check out the XTs as well... yummy...

cons - doesnt have markers , you will not know which gear are you set . I think I saw some XTR shifters with cable-attached (like in road bikes) shift indicators. Are these optional parts? You might wanna check with your source.

after a while you dont really need the indicators, just like with road bikes. i hardly ever looked at mine.

@ ungas & onie , Sorry cant compare it to other group set i just felt a significant difference in wt vs deore since it was the only component i have used so far . No optical gear display
@ jaymz Havent received the rotors yet , im still using old rotors , 6" works just fine , amount ? no idea just a gift .
@ imusbiker yes older xtr with dual control levers do have optional cable attached speed display , though oftenly not installed cause cables are usually routed behind the handle bars.

Sir GT,
You don't need markers. Your legs will tell you when to shift.
Ganda talaga ng XTRs. Congrats sir.

@ GALVinChie
Thanks , it would be the case , just had 2 XC rides on it , Brake levers are nicely in place , so smooth no need to grip the levers for braking power , for shift levers still in the process of familiarization , i was used to have markers on the shift levers .
