I love the way it looks. Not looking very XC-ish anymore but meaner...and looks like it gonna be very very expensive.
Packaging looks like Xmen though.hehe

man, that's ugly. i really miss the old 952 stuff. 960 wasn't too bad looking either. i wish they made triggers & a normal-rise derailleur to match that instead.

The newXTR has a rapid rise and normal type RD and they do have triggers like all the lines. Its the distributor's fault that they dont sell the triggers on all the current models

you're right. i was able to get a normal-rise xt derailleur though, but not xtr. then again, i probably wouldn't have spent for the xtr either, too expensive The newXTR has a rapid rise and normal type RD and they do have triggers like all the lines. Its the distributor's fault that they dont sell the triggers on all the current models

Wonder how the crankset will look like. FROM CYCLINGNEWS.COM Shimano has yet to release official information on the new crankset and brake offerings, but spy images that recently surfaced on a Dutch web site ....... Here is the link to the Dutch website. www.dirty-pages.net/nieuws/nieuwsitem.php?id=26787Some images from that website.

I have seen these pictures a few days before it was posted here... was going to post it here but I hated it so much i figured let some1 do it... myb it'll grow on me... NAH! I still hate it. Shimano tried to look more like SRAM. I have no clue why they would want to do this. Those Xs look like sh*t and it's totally cheesy. the logic is not there either. The XT line... shouldn't that be the X ?... the XT(R)... should be an R... not an X. duh! The shimano smooth clean lines are gone on this group.... i see tons of places where u will be using a toothbrush and tooth pick to clean it and remove all the mud after a ride. Either the designer was watching too many Robotech anime or Shimano hired a guy from SRAM's design team.... OR a Shimano designer that is secretly riding a SRAM on his bike. What about the XTR pedal... different form factor and totally diff colour. WTF? On the rapidfire shifters... they have gone from hidding all the bosses inside the casing/shell to showing it outside like SRAM... stress points! plastics are not aluminum. maybe it comes w/ epoxy like SRAM should be doing. Finally the RD... I guess Shimano doesn't see that people rather not have that loop of housing in the back. I like Shimano but if they keep this up I'm moving to the XO in no time. the spy shots... come on. the existing XTR crank right now is to die for... sooo smooth, so beautiful u could mount it on a wall. what is shown above... if that is really the new XTR is a POS. looks like it came from race face and they were trying to machine a road crank. the funny thing is RF's sexy road crank CADENCE is looking like the existing XTR... oh the spy shot actually looks like the XTR even older generation. rant over. did imention that i hate this design? ;D

it means only one thing, the '03s gonna be cheaper .... compared to the new ones, but basically they will cost the same. Have you seen those new '03 fork being sold the same price when they were released in '02.
Those cranks are definitely ugly. the design changes are definitely questionable, they should have made it an H because those things looked more hone-ish than xtr. I still like the design (those things that come to the handle bar). The RD is kinda gay though.
But I completely agree with you @poseur, I like the Pewter XTR more than the flat color.

Don't even get me started on the rotor on that spy shot. The Saint rotor design (6-bolt) is one of the most elegant I have seen. I love it better than my Hope. so nice.... i hope that shot was just some experimental-for-show-only rotor design.

Hey I heard the same rant you guys gave when the Dual Control went out.... now? most of the riders are happy with it. I will reserve my judgement later. I admit they look clunky specially the brake/shifter assembly. Oh I'm an X-men fan hehehe. I like the simplicity of their trigger shifter

Maybe they are really going for that image since many cranks copies the xtr design ie those crank you mentioned @poseur, and those new truvativ howitzers. Maybe they are starting a new trend, reverse nga lang hehe. Good or bad we are just getting what they make, good thing is that shimano gives us a lot of choices.
Those triggers I believe are inspired by the saint triggers.

How so? the Saint triggers are inspired from the XT... and the rest of the Shimano triggers. smooth lines... tear drop. I really love what the designers did t the Saint lines. Just this XTR is disappointing.
